I suspect I'm the only one on here who really cares about this. No, I’m not majorly pro MFC or anything (I leave that feeling for C#), but I’m just happy to see Microsoft continuing to support MFC with some major updates (VS 2008)…and GUI no less. MFC updates have been pretty weak in the last few go arounds, so this is a positive step and with components I can definitely make use of at work.

Check out this blog for more information.

hey S^2, that's pretty sweet. I actually started out with MFC and really liked it (although over time grew to understand I could do other things easier).

That's cool hear they're reviving it!

Are you saying you learned to do GUI development in an easier way or that you found other areas of programming as easier?

I think it may be based on a large number of people getting upset with the current state of Microsoft's MFC and C++ support. MS's strategy seems to be very focused on .NET and MFC saw very little in the way of updates through the last few Visual Studio releases. Microsoft has made an effort over the last few releases to better support the C++ standard. With this announcement, it looks like they will continue to update to more recent standards. But I have read many people screaming "Where's the C++ support" everytime MS announces some new addition to .NET.
