Hello!
I'm kinda new to this forum so I don't know if this topic has been brought up before, but my question is if there is anyone who has any experience in j2me mobile game-developement.

I have an idea to a game that I think would work great as a mobile game. But I don't have much experience with java, and absolutely no experience in mobile developement (save from an article in a cs-magazine).
So, is there anyone out there who can point me to good books, tutorials, etc.?

Thanks in advance, and God bless!

Since I'm currently doing my military service, it might take a few days till I check the thread again.

Hello phantom! Welcome to CCN! ..and uh.. nice avatar

I do a LOT of coding in java and I love eclipse! Sometimes the basic package is a bit tricky to download an configure. When I started out in eclipse I used a version called EasyEclipse.

They have a specific version of eclipse that is pre-configured for mobile apps.

I've not personally done work in the j2me arena, but eclipse should serve you well.

btw, eclipse is a bit of a memory hog. It runs best on a system w/ > 1GB ram.

God Bless! and again welcome!

Hi, welcome to CCN.
I used netbeans with mobile pack to create a simple mobile game once. It was really easy with netbeans automated code creation that doesnt prevent you from including your own code. So that's just what I would recommend.

i have netbeans too they have a free cd offer on their site i ordered one and got one after a while and the netbeans mobility pack comes with it.

i have builded some of the sample apps and tried them on my cell phone and it works fine. i also like the emulator that comes with the mobility pack and i really like the whole visual designer thing.

j2me sounds nice google for midlet games and stuff and you will find some nice games for your cell phone too and for an example of how to start off.

and it's always not a bad idea to check out sun's j2me site.
