Matthew(22:36-40)"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

There are a few community-maintained forks of the original Q3GPL engine that are doing pretty well -- imo one of the best is OpenArena, where they've modified the engine to be standalone, and also added in things like bot AI (that the Q3GPL doesn't include). It's fairly actively maintained, and they have compile scripts for Windows, Mac and Linux.

I'm interested in hearing what you find out!

i tried to compile the engine last night and got a boat load of errors. i dont remember what all was wrong. i think it was mostly because vc++ had to update the code to work with the latest version.
