Anyone here ever used to quake 3 engine? i just downloaded it and am unzipping it right down. i gonna see if it compiles just for fun. ------------------ |

i think i have that but it didn't compile with my compileres (gnu gcc,borland), i think it only works on visual c++ but i am not sure. ------------------ |

There are a few community-maintained forks of the original Q3GPL engine that are doing pretty well -- imo one of the best is OpenArena, where they've modified the engine to be standalone, and also added in things like bot AI (that the Q3GPL doesn't include). It's fairly actively maintained, and they have compile scripts for Windows, Mac and Linux. I'm interested in hearing what you find out! --clint |

i tried to compile the engine last night and got a boat load of errors. i dont remember what all was wrong. i think it was mostly because vc++ had to update the code to work with the latest version. ------------------ |
