I've seen some progress on RealmForge GDK. It is based on the OGRE engine (which is a great engine) but is written in C#. It might be worth a look.

Good luck making an MMORPG. I'm not trying to be rude but I will be honest. Writing a massively multiplayer online game is a daunting task. You have to have a team of talented people with lots of free time to pull one off. Good luck!

Just a thought... Since you want to code an MMORPG, have you ever thought of creating a MUD?

I know you've looked at the MITE engine so I thought you might be a prime candidate to write scripts for the engine. We are looking for scripters to prove the engine's capabilities. You also could help us write pieces of the engine which would give you a concept of working on a team.

I know a full blown MMO game sounds really cool to do, but maybe you should start out with a base in a text game and then build from there. Like I said, just a thought.

Are you asking for my help? I'd love to help if you need anything. I'm not the best coder and I'm still learning but if you would like my help that'd be great!

Hey En972!

I'm not sure if HeardTheWord was asking for your help, but I'd certainly be interested in having you on board. The group is at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/MITE_Engine/ , and if you haven't joined already, you'll find that we have more frequent discussion and updates about the engine than I post to CCN.

The code, while not huge, is powerful in its design. It's still only around 2000 lines of code (including all of the comments). I'd be interested in seeing how you wrap your brain around it.

It may take you a while to get up to speed with the development of the engine (I take care of most of that, and Matt helps out on that also). Will and David are mainly concerned with building a test game with the engine, and based upon what they need and want, I modify and expand the engine in order to help it mature. So what we really need right now are people who are willing to get their hands dirty trying things with the engine and playing with it, and dreaming/desiging about how they'd like it to behave.

So if you're interested, please check out the group and then e-mail me after that if you're still interested.

Cheers!

Respectfully,
clint
