Does anyone here use 3d GameStudio? Do you rate it? and how easy was it for you to learn the c-script language?

Cheers Guys.

I can't answer your question as I've not used the tool, but I've seen some of the results, and their pretty impressive. I just took a peek at their site, and it looks pretty capable.

Btw, there appears to be a trial version available here: http://www.conitec.net/a4update.htm

Saints of Virtue apparently was made with GameStudio.

One thing I did notice about GameStudio is it could be a difficult choice deciding on which version to license. There's a decent table on their website listing the features of each. For example, I think you need the Pro version ($199 I think) to get any multiplayer support (4 clients). Terrain is also absent in the lower specced versions.

Yeh i just bought the Extra edition for now, just to see if i like it or not. Looks pretty good so far, really easy to pick up.

The only problem i find is that im absolutely pants at art, level design, i can only program *sigh*, nevermind.

I know what you're saying. I'm merely competent at both programming and graphics There's a heck of a lot of effort required to make good 3d models and scenes.

cool. Me and a friend currently writing a Baldurs Gate II/Neverwinter Nights style christian rpg. Never realised how much work went into an RPG until now. Good job my mate a devout rpg'er. lol.

Should have a website up soon.

I've used it with mixed results. If you are competent at coding it should be a stable engine for you (I'm NOT so I moved to Reality Factory).

I used it in the past for one project, only because I had to. It was "ok". It doesn't look the "best", but it is one of the more versatile game creators out there and it is stable with a large user base. Back then the language was called "j-script" or something like that, but once Java quit being as "envogue" they changed the name to "C-script". The engine is kinda outdated and was originally based on the Quake 2 engine. They also bought the rights to one of the most popular Quake editors, QOOLE and use that for the world editor. It has progressed really far for a product that was originally DOS based and based on the free/open source Adventure Creation Kit program.

It sounds like you guys could benefit from the 3D RPG Creator my team has been working on since the fall of 2003, its called SR-3D and is intended for people with no programming experience. We take care of all of the hard stuff for you

how close is your RPG engine to usability and what is the cost?

I do not like to give release dates, as something always comes up and the date is rarely met. I will say that we are getting ready to put the site online this week and those who join the "community" forums will get to have direct input into the features implemented and the way they are implemented (afterall we are making it for the users, they should have a say in things). The community members will be the first to get their hands on prealpha versions, alpha versions, beta versions, etc. We are hoping to have a public release by Christmas.
