We had a topic about this before and I'm here to say we're up now!
Currently, we're running two servers, one for Wolfenstien: Enemy Territory and the other for Freelancer.
It's free to use, and if you want to get a say in new games to play, or other such matters, $5 a month gives you such influence.

For details:
www.christiangameservers.com

For those who don't know about Enemy Territory, it's a free WW2 multiplayer FPS game.
download it here:
http://www.download.com/Return-to-Castle-Wolfenstein-Enemy-Territo ry-full-install-/3000-7565_4-10243511.html
patch it here:
http://returntocastlewolfenstein.filefront.com/file/ET_Patch_Windows;39483

Server address is:
71.229.83.64

Freelancer, if you never played it, is a open-ended fast paced space sim. Kinda RPGish, even. You can do missions, trade runs or pirating for money to buy bigger, badder ships, and explore dangerous sectors of the galaxy.
And, essentially, with the dedicated server, it's a free space "mmorpg."

server name:
ChristianGameServers.com

It's not system intensive, and costs around 10 bucks to get. But, it's a really fun game and still looks great. I'll probably be on this one alot, so just drop me an IM.

Heh heh heh. I went on-line today. The first time I completely failed and got killed. I could not remember a thing about how to play. I couldn't get the free flight working. Plus I had taken a Level 2 job.

I tried again, later, and completed my first mission. But I had forgotten about following the + when firing. So, at first, I was just firing away.

It may take me a bit to resettle.

haha, nice. I'll have to catch you online sometime. It'll be fun to fly a couple missions.
Maybe a pirate raid once we get more powerful. Then, assemble a full attack force on Kusari space.

Ah, I miss the days of playing Freelancer with my friends. We had our own little consortium back then...

Well, I've been on a few times. My first time I saw Iron_Mike, but wasn't sure who that is. Other than that, I haven't seen anyone else. I've been flying a few missions. I really need to upgrade my ship. The battles are taking too long as I'm not doing enough damage per hit.

Not sure how often I can get on. The real-time battles make it difficult to play while my family is awake. I think each time I have gotten on-line, my kid's have wanted to show me something or have me do something and I've had to tell them to wait until after the battle is over.

One of them really wants to pilot a ship in a battle. I keep saying "No" as she really won't understand what to do. But I did let her pilot me back to a docking point.

You mean there are games out there that actually exist that have non-real-time battles?!?!? :P just kidding

I go to check if anyone's on here and there. So far haven't run into anyone.
Just running missions, and collecting weapons. I have enough to outfit a couple ships. So, anyone I meet, I can hook up with Drails, Scorpions, turrets, Counter measure droppers, etc.

my next ship is gonna be a freighter and I'm gonna do trade runs across the galaxy. It'll also be good for pirating, if I can find someone who'd want to do raids with me.

I think it would be fun. If I can find a place to buy it online and just download, I'll get it installed tonight and maybe be on tonight or tomorrow.

When I read that, I imagined like a PBS-esque literary hour with Mastallama talking (in a very proper accent) about Freelance, "Oh! we had a consortium back then!"---LOL I am just kiddin bro but I learned a new word hehe!

Overstock sells freelancer for 10 dollars. they usually have pretty good shipping prices.

It'd be pretty sweet to get a... consortium going.
heh. I soundz smart.

Yeah, I may have to get it from Overstock.com. I would prefer to download it but I couldn't find it and the local Wal-Marts and Targets don't have it (I called about 3 of each).

prefer to download? really?

I'd have gotten 3d game studio and TGB a long time ago if I could be sent a box.
In my mind, paying for a download is like paying to breathe. It should be free, unless you're on mars.
That and I love the feeling of holding the box in my hand. And having pretty CD.

MAN! I am having some AWESOME fun at Freelancer! I forgot how good that game is! I even convinced a few guys from work to buy it, hee hee! I've found a pretty lucrative trade route, (minimal threat) and I have a big freighter now with GUNS TO THE MAX!!! LOL! Stupid guys pulled me out of the warp tunnel thingy and were dead in under 20 seconds...ah, good times.

Anyone care to join the Consortium of Constellations? Profits are up and I'm always looking for new, more lucrative trade routes (to run, have run and be protected on).

I bought a freighter, and a bunch of expensive goods, only to be destroyed.
Never flew a freighter before and wasn't used to not being able to maneuvering.

So, I scrapped what I could, bought a light fighter and trying to get my funds back.
I'll do some escorting for you. I'll see you on tonight.

excellent. Did you see the Freelancer standings sheet?
http://www.otbclub.net/main/index.php?page=freelancestat&cookie=true

There's a couple up there who cheated.
(kinda impossible to get to level 43 without leaving home base or killing a single ship...), but it's cool to see yourself climb up the numbers.

I'm currently working towards getting my Eagle VHF.
love my Drake LF, though. That thing is so fast and so small. I almost never get hit.

soo... what happened to all that cash you had? you didn't lose a big shipment did you?

According to the Freelancer website, you can only get to level 39 without cheating.

As for my cash, I lost 2 shipments and then sold everything to suit up a HF with the best guns I could find. I'm running some missions right now (although I haven't played in like a week)

How did you get that leaderboard?? That's awesome!

ccgr put it up. It's pretty sweet to watch your pos on it.

apparently Laz has been making some great freight runs... or... *raises eyebrow*
haha.

So, bragging moment.
So I fly a level 13 ship (Kusari Drake), was level 24 at the time, and took on a level 33 mission.
Payoff was 71k. Highest paying mission I've done before was around 30k. lol.
That was an unbelievably hard. At times, my entire screen was glowing with enemy fire. I could hardly seen anything else.
For the first time in a while, I had to use my shield batteries.
There were so many bogies that I not only used them up, but refilled it off the looting, used them up again and refilled them again. Kinda scary, though, when you have 8 guys on your tail and no more batteries. heh. My dodging powers, ftw.

Just wanted to say how awesome I was.

Just for you , I ran a few things last night...

16 MastaLlama 8 $30,341

No missions, just looking around and oops, fell into about 20,000 credits...right there by Manhattan too. Weird huh? I was only on for about 20 minutes (I think), and with a HF, so I wonder if I get another freighter and do the same thing if I could potentially make more $/min than the Boron:Leeds run. And no, I was doing nothing with Diamonds...although there is a spot I want to try to mine them at.

How did they do it though? Do you submit files to them or do they pull a file from you? Does the Freelancer server software broadcasts rankings?

I think it accesses the server database.
anyhow, we'll have to do some more missions.

Try some high-profile missions. We can hit the Reihnland and get some big bucks. Staying alive is a bit of an issue, though. What do you fly now?
Is it the Bretonia HF? I used to use that one, not a bad ship. Looks kinda goofy at first, but it becomes endearing.

The civilian ships are actually pretty good. They have good turning radiuses. Very key.

This has the best summaries for ships I've seen.

I'd like to try a crack at making a leaderboard. Did you have to give them a password or anything to access the database?

I stopped off in Liberty and picked up a Defender...I know there's better but it works for the time being.

We really need to load up on Nomad Energy Blasters and attack some battleships!!!!

yikes. Good ship for it's level, I must admit, but it's time you graduate. lol.

we need to get you this ship:
http://www.lancersreactor.com/t/flships/details.asp?id=2
Overall, a pretty good ship. Hard to find something better without spending over 200k. This one has pretty good manuevering, better than a good amount of light fighters.

It's a bout 70k. Do a couple missions on our way to Kusari space, and one big trade run, we should be able to get you it. Don't worry, I'll cover you.
just get you up to level 13.

If you're big into dodging and maneuvering, you should consider a Drake.
Less armor, shields and firepower, but if you know how to use them, they're unbelievably tough.
those things are crazy. only need level 10 for that, but you should feel pretty comfortable; they are the most maneuverable ships in the game. I don't know how many times I've run into the sides of the ships I was I chasing. I could run circles around these slow heavy fighters.
