Just found this announcement over at GarageGames:
quote:
GreatGamesExperiment.com (GGE) will be giving a free game to each new user that creates an account between June 7-14. The week-long giveaway will allow users to choose from 48 games* in the GarageGames Game Store. So if you haven't yet created an account on GGE, now would be the time to do it!

Upon creating an account, users will be sent a message through their GGE account informing them of the Giveaway, and linking to the Game Store where they can select their free game. Creating an account at GGE is entirely free, and requires no obligation beyond a valid email address to become a member. The contest will begin at midnight on June 7, and end at midnight on June 14.

*Wildlife Tycoon: Venture Africa, Fizzball, and Fastcrawl are not participating in this promotion, and will be sold at full price during the week of June 7-14.

There are some fantastic games available over in the GG store -- one of my most recent favorites being Manic Space, though Marble Blast Gold is always a "blast" as well.

I've already had my Great Games Experiment account since beta, but I know many people on here haven't signed up there yet, so hopefully some of you can snag a free game from this promotion!

Cheers!

Fantastic! Thanks for the info. What is the relationship between GreatGamesExperiment and GarageGames? By signing up for GGE I am just signing up for the gaming site, right?

[Edit] What exactly is GGE? Do you play games for free? For a fee?

Not entirely sure -- they work very closely together, but I'm not entirely sure if GGE is "under" GG or not.

Correct.

GGE is sortof a social networking site for games, gamers, and developers. Much like how MySpace is set up to work very well for musicians, so too GGE works well for networking around games. GGE doesn't have any games -- it's a site to find games, promote games, catalog, organize, and rate games, as well as just chill out and talk about them. I'm not associated with them at all -- that's just the best I've gathered from using the site.

Cheers!

There must be some sort of protection in place to stop same person from getting more than one game by creating new accounts. Theoretically you could get all games on GG which I doubt they'll let you.

GGE is a site developed and maintained by GarageGames though it is meant to be independent of our Torque engines and of our garagegames.com site

btw be sure to send a friend invite my way if anyone joins up

This might be a good time to remind everybody that today is the last day of the promotion.

I'm: http://www.greatgamesexperiment.com/user/SSquared

I like it!

I'm still working on my profile, so I have a ridiculously long description.

I was up until 1:45 AM last night trying different game demos trying to decide what I want. My favorites were Oddictive, Marble Blast, and Tribal Trouble. Anyone have any recommendations on something?

I liked Tribal Trouble, but I really want to get something my young girls will enjoy, so I'm thinking Marble Blast. Is the Ultra version of Marble Blast available at the store? I did not see it.
