Sound as ogg or wav. Wav can be very large. Anyone know of a free wav to ogg conversion tool? Windows or linux. Doing a google search gives me about 1.6 million shareware sites. |

I noticed you have kenman down for sfx. That's ok with me. I have registered with pyweek as samw3 if you still need a sound effects guy. ------------------ |

I registered as IrishCream on Pyweek. I would also suggest daily meeting times on IRC with everyone involved. Communication is key. I think our first meeting should be held to divy up tasks. These tasks should be posted somewhere so that everyone can see what everyone else is doing. BTW do we have a graphics person? oh and GAIM also has a Irc option, I find it quite handy and less bulky than other IRC clients. ------------------ [This message has been edited by insanepoet (edited March 28, 2007).] [This message has been edited by insanepoet (edited March 28, 2007).] |

I think Kenman was the one - doing graphics. |

Alrighty. 6 out of the 7 of us have been registered. (kenman is having some problems with the pyweek site and his ISP).
quote: Oops. You're supposed to be sfx and kenman is supposed to be graphics. He'll do some sfx, if something goes wrong and you have to drop out or something.
quote: Yup. A daily meeting sounds good. I'd recommend we set apart a section of the afternoon or night to chat (EDIT: for example any ammount of time between 4-7pm EST) Agreed. Kenman has offered to set up a CMS. Those who'd really rather not register could use this thread. Or create another aptly named one. ------------------ "Oh, bother," said the Borg. I'm in if you'll have me. I can pop in from 4pm-7pm, but I can't commit 3hrs a day, daily for a week. Is that required for all team members? Sound effects shouldn't be that big a part of this, correct? I'm thinking about 10-20 different effects. Will that work, me just popping in? ------------------ |

quote: Hey Kenman! The best tool that I've used for such things is Audacity -- it's sortof an open-source Cool-Edit. It supports .ogg natively, and can use lame for .mp3 export. It's cross-platform with Windows, Mac and Linux. Cheers! --clint |

quote: Same here. My schedule will be getting pretty crazy at the time of PyWeek. I don't think that I'll be able to devote three hours a day in that fashion, especially not at that time frame. I should be able to put a bit of time into coding and what not, but the time frames will likely be rather irregular. I hope this won't be a huge problem. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Xian_Lee (edited March 28, 2007).] |

quote: Sorry, I need to rephrase that. I intended to say that popping in for a few minutes to an hour during that time period is fine. Yes.

quote: An hour or so (even a half our) would be great. You can pop in or submit stuff at any time. Because some of you will be busy. Could those of you who can't devote much time to the project PM me your email address? This way I can contact you directly when you're not available, and you can read it when you become available. ------------------ "Oh, bother," said the Borg. "We've assimilated Pooh." Good communication is very important... especailly in this case. People need to know what they need to be working on and when it needs to be done by. We've gone 1 week to do it all. ------------------ |

Team members please create an account on http://pyweek.twobrotherssoftware.com to vote for things (such as the game's genre). ------------------ "Oh, bother," said the Borg. "We've assimilated Pooh." As regarding the game's Christian nature, I think it should focus on redemptive themes that permiate the whole of reality. These themes point us to Christ. Good morals are fine, but they don't save our souls. We have to realize that the realites of the world created were originally designed to be a metaphor for the Gospel. So when Christ said "I am the good shepard", the very existence of the shepard existed to point us to Christ. ------------------ [This message has been edited by insanepoet (edited March 28, 2007).] |

Alright, CPU, I've given you my email address and I've tried registering on the CMS. I just got the confirmation email, and I'm good to go for logging in. Let's win this thing. EDIT: I like your approach, insanepoet. I agree that anybody can have good morals (I've approached this topic a bit in my blog), so that's not enough. However, I'm not a fan of throwing Christian doctrine in the middle of a game if it isn't fitting and/or requires halting the gameplay. So long as it's well incorporated, I'm all for a blatant Christian message in a game. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Xian_Lee (edited March 28, 2007).] |

My point is that redemptive themes are found in reality itself and that whatever the story happenes to be, it should focus on a redemptive theme found in reality. This could get tricky because a "theme" is decided for us, i've read all the possiblities, they can be played with to make them fit. ------------------ |

quote: I side with Xian_Lee. You can vote on the "ammount of christian-ness" (not exactly the best title. If you can think of a better one let me know ) on the CMS.
