Blitzcoder to return

The rumor has been doing the rounds for about a week now, the blitz basic community (blitzcoder.com) is coming back this year and will hopefully bring back the old magic that made it so popular back in the day. Most of the old members have since moved on, but there’s still plenty of blitzers around who’ll be glad to see it back online.

After replacing BlitzBasement, Blitzcoder (founded by John “Krylar” Logsdon of ChristianCoders) was taken over by Idigicon Ltd (formerly Guildhall Leisure) who moved the community to CodersWorkshop, which then closed, leaving the remaining few to split off into independent forums, one of which was the Devcrunch forums.

Confused? There’s more.. we just closed our forums in favour of a news/resource blog (how’s that for timing?) so anyone who’s been around since the early days will probably come full-circle and return to Blitzcoder.

Devcrunch is not affiliated with, or endorsed by Idigicon Ltd, Blitzcoder or Codersworkshop.

Is this true, what do you know?

I hope this happens, I remember when it closed. I wish I went there when it was up because it seemed like a very active community (like Codersworkshop) but it seemed smaller than Codersworkshop. To me it was like a mix between Codersworkshop (active yet large community) and CCN (small community yet slow community).

Also why it was better than CW was because it didn't have all of the other languages spaced out, it just concentrated on BlitzBasic.

I know, I was way late though. I didn't even get in on CW.com.

I have heard that it is true. You can check on the progress of it by going here:

You really didn't miss much at CW. You can go to Archive.org, type in the URLs and see what either of the sites were like.

I was there for CW.com just never registered. I've been looking on SoCoder and discovering where some of our members are. I have a link to BlitzCoder on my computer (one that goes past the initial sign) so I've gotten a good look.
