Hey everyone. My names Jason, obviously I'm new to this site. Ive been here a few times lurking and I think its great that theres a site like this mixing coding with christianity. This also brings back some memories for me because I loved Blitzcoder.com and this obviously looks alot like that ... I still think that needs to be reopened especially with Codersworkshop going down Anyways Im a christian who loves programming so hopefully Ill fit right in. Here's my site with a few of my software titles. I primarily work with Blitz3d, haven't finished a game yet but have started many lol anyways hello. |

Hey Loktar, welcome to CCN! There certainly are a number of Blitz guys here now. It's not my cup of tea, but it looks like a fantastic tool that many of the guys here have done some sweet stuff in. BTW, your screensavers look really good and creative as well! I'm impressed with your site. We hope you enjoy your time here. It's not perfect by any stretch of the word, but it's still my favorite forum on the 'net. In Christ, |

quote: Thats where I want to go next with programming, I want to get some linux and Mac programs out there. For some reason I'm just scared of taking that next step into Bmax, or C++... I've used basic languages all my life so I've grown very comfortable with them. Thanks for the welcomes and comments

BM isn't to terrible of a change from B3d. I can't say the same for C++, it looks pretty frightening. BM is actually pretty basic. ------------------ |

If you're looking for cross-platform (Windows, Mac and Linux) and want to stick with basic, check out RealBasic: http://www.realbasic.com/. The only reason I'm not using it is because I got so spoiled by Visual Basic's interface that it's been hard for me to switch to anything else. ------------------ |

EDIT: And you can do 3D easily in Python. ------------------ [This message has been edited by CPUFreak91 (edited January 19, 2007).] |

PointofLight: BM also does cross-platform over all 3. ------------------ |

CPU freak thanks for the suggestions, I've heard of all of those just have never tried using them. Jestermax, I used to work the helpdesk, it was shift work and I worked Mids. I was searching the internet due to lack of calls (I'm in USAF and all the jobs are 7-4 for the most part) and I happen to find B3D by luck. That was over 2 years ago, been hooked ever since. |

it sounds simple enough... (what 'basic' language isn't?) but i've never tried playing with it... i should consider it so i can get some 3D stuff going maybe... but in the past i've just used Ogre3D for my 3D rendering |

My father was a Systems Admin. and I wanted to make games, so he looked for some books, picked out Game Programming for Teens. I went through it, got good. On the demo was a list of 4 sites, CCN was one of them. Went on, got better ever since. BTW, I think Krylar is on the tutorials as well. ------------------ |

thats a good book. i know someone who read it and made some nifty things with it those sorts of books are great for getting started with. i wish i had one of those back in the day i've wanted to make games since about grade one (years before i even had a computer)... |

I've done some quick prototyping in it for our C++ coursework. ------------------ |
