My Buddy over at Lethal Gaming got in contact with me recently concerning a project he has started working on. Early in development but it looks promising and I suspect it will receive some pleasant recognition as this project matures. It is something like Playerworlds where you can make your own mog’s but this is going to be far more customizable. It’s about a step away form being true middleware application which generates source code (it probably wont) but it will be a full package nonetheless for making your own 2D adventure games. In any case, the games made with his tools will be ok for commercial use requiring no royalties. Also, the software is not just for making Christian games, it’s open for anyone to make just about anything they wish. You can check it out and reg at the forums here: http://www.lethalgamescorporation.com/product_info.php?products_id=138 [This message has been edited by Faith_Warrior (edited October 07, 2006).] |

Lethal gaming... that's is ironic, to some people games really are lethal, especially MMORPGs. ------------------ [VoHW] (Help needed) [Blog] - Truedisciple (mp3) |

Looks like a great tool! Engine development is pretty tough, I hope they can manage to get a usable product and that the maintenance is sustainable. $19.95 sounds like a great deal for a product like that! --clint |

Thanks Faith_Warrior. I was looking for something else and ran across this site. The original plans for the 2D MMORPG Maker was to create a simple Christian-based online game for www.christianscififantasycentral.com. But the idea blossomed into making everything editable to allow others to make their own games. It is still a ways off from being released, but it will get there. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Leathel (edited October 23, 2006).] [This message has been edited by Leathel (edited October 23, 2006).] |

hey that's how BYOND got started off. they wanted to create a game in like 93 that (this is the amazing part) was multiplayer over the net. that would be a feat at the time. but instead they ended up creating an engine where people could create such games. and its been getting better ever since. ------------------ |

wow that's pretty neat. That's one area where you don't find much -- mmorpg makers. (well, I don't find much, i don't know about everyone else) ------------------ "Time is an excellent teacher, but eventually it kills all of its students." |

quote: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_Middleware#MMOG_Middleware Those are 3D though, I'd love to see some serious offerings out there for 2D mmog middleware. Especially something that generated code for an isometric mmog like many 3D middleware packages do. [This message has been edited by Faith_Warrior (edited October 25, 2006).] |
