hey, i have written several BYOND games, but i haven't ever posted them or anything because i thought that you couldn't run them without the client. but i found out that you can package them into a .exe, so i thought i would show off the beginnings of one of them... Bouncy... it's just a 2D (well, everything in BYOND is 2D) platformer where you play as a very energetic, and well, bouncy, blue guy. this is just a demo, so it doesn't have much in it. if anybody would like to help with graphics or sound, or maybe programming if they know the language... it would be appreciated. well, enough ado, here's the download. Download Bouncy

Well, it seemed to need BYOND to play it, I think anyway, it requested my password, I had downloaded it before.

The controls respond kinda slow, and when he does it picks up on too much speed I think.

Also, just a bug report, after you fall to the lower level, if you go back to where you fell, it displays the message like you just fell.

Anyway, on a better note, I see potential and I would like to see more of this game

BTW, Did you make the graphics yourself?

yah i did do them myself, plus, i know that it does it after he falls again... wasn't sure if i should make it do it only once, but i'll change it... when i upload again, that is. which will be soon, cuz i'm working on making the teleport pad take you wherever you want. all BYOND controls are kinda slow. im gonna work on finding either a library that has better movement, or write my own movement. thnx on the complements/criticism, always good to hear =D

*edit* do you think clicking to walk would work? or no? then you could just make like the up key jump..

Well I don't know, it just depends on what you are trying to make the game as. Is it a platformer where you'll need good reflexes? If so make him move with the keyboard. Is it a, relaxed graphical adventure? Make him move with the walk button.

hmm... well, i found a good library that delays the movement so it's all equal... i finished V.2, here ya go: it's got a lot of updates, the teleporter choices, a cutscene (woohoo!! =D) and a maze (it's insanely easy, but i was pressed for time)... an old *enemy* of Bouncy's comes back... and he's *strangely* named a lot like Bouncy... i know this game is, a little kiddish... but it started out as just for fun, and i can't exactly deviate and have Bouncy goin' around with a Mag44 can i? lol here's the download:

lol, I thought there was alot of improvement, and the movement isn't as fast, but do you think it could be done where he doesn't pick up momentum, even if he is a little slow?

I don't it's kiddy at all, and guns don't make it any less kiddy, lol. Actually it kinda reminded me of the first Duke Nukem game, and the other shareware-era games like that.

Keep it up!

What did you improve over the last one? I can't really tell the difference, usually when a company releases an update or patch to their software they list the changes so people will know, instead of playing the whole thing to find it when if it was listed they could just go to the part that was changed.

Also if I were you, I wouldn't decide "ok 2 more demos, any ideas?", instead I would make the demo only if I had an idea in the first place. That's why sequels nowadays are so crummy, the studio's just want another movie and then work on the idea, instead what they should do is only make the sequel if it's a good idea in the first place.

Just improve what has been said in the past and then do the final, that's what I would do, but it's up to you.

hmm... ok. lol, i actually just added some more to the map. when you beat the maze, there's more to explore. plus it adds a little suspense at the end of what will happen in the next demo. i may just make the final release the next release.
