As you guys know, I made a 2d platformer a while ago called Joe, well recently I dug up an old project, Joe 3D. It has the same premise as Joe 1, but it's 3d. Right now it's a side project, but the Adeventure Demo 2 is still alive and kicking. And so any feedback would be really appreciated And I plan to make a final version of the demo, it would consist of 10 levels with more features, such as sound. So any ideas for the final demo of how to make it better, will be considered Here is a link to the demo: http://www.freewebs.com/lava-flow/downloadjoe.htm Here are some pictures of the beta version:

Need to play... now... Edit: Eh, the controls are a bit iffy, along with the camera. Another thing is that the platform does not move Joe at all... A skybox or something would improve the feel. You'll probably need to use a different collision system. You can find plent of free ones at the Blitz website under toolbox. Jumping doesn't feel smooth.. ------------------ [This message has been edited by firemaker103 (edited March 11, 2006).] |

To "sudden" controls. Not reall smooth. The camera was just a pain to move around. Maybe a just move forward and strafe for the camera, and the mouse to rotate the view. ------------------ |

Or would it be better the mouse could control the camera completely? ------------------ |

i agree with the controls and camera being iffy... too sudden, like he said... also, is there a way that you can remain in place on the moving platforms unless you move? cuz you move backwards if you are standing on one... ------------------ |

I added a cloud theme to the background and I don't think it really fit, so I think I will try a space theme to the background. So far I have made the moving block carry Joe. I tried making Joe move slower but that set off the jumps, he wouldn't move fast enough to jump the distance between each block. So does anyone have any ideas as to making the game more fluid? ------------------ |

did you update the download since making the block carry him? also, one thing to make the game more fluid, you could create sort of a delay on the pushed button... just a real short thing, so when you push the button, he doesn't move right away... maybe slow him down just a tad also, but make some kind of 'the longer you hold the button, the faster he goes and/or jumps higher' thing so that he can get those jumps even though he's slower... just some ideas lol!! ------------------ |

ok, that's sounds reasonable, those are some good ideas! No I haven't updated the download, but I will after I made some more changes. Many thanks ------------------ |

MUST............PLAY................JOE.................................. They did that moving stuff on mario64 and sonic, but I dont like them much... It depends on what the game feel is suposed to be. ------------------ |
