Hello, I would like to show you some screen shots of the Christian adventure MMOG Voice of His Word. It's been in development for long time now and you can find all the info about it from www.voiceofhisword.com If you have any questions then please do ask, all feedback negative/positive is apreciated. We are also looking for people to help with this project, no skills are required as long as you have heart for Jesus!

Just a little tip I learned from my own project, try putting a molding of some kind on the bottom edges of your interiors and buildings, it helps to break up the sharp angles and really adds to the look of it. The shots look good though, maybe needs a few trees here in there, but it looks good. ------------------ |
Jari Member Posts: 1471 From: Helsinki, Finland Registered: 03-11-2005 |
Hi Ereon, thanks for the tip! I'm not exactly sure what kind of molding should I put there though. And yeah those maps are missing all the vegetation. ------------------ [VoHW] (Help needed) [Blog] - Truedisciple (mp3) |
Ereon Member Posts: 1018 From: Ohio, United States Registered: 04-12-2005 |
Well, it doesn't nessecessarily need to be a molding, possibly a dirtying of the texture near the bottom of the wall, just something to lessen the sharp, artifical angle near the base of the wall and the edge of the floor. I'll be posting some screen of my own game soon that have molding on them, well.....that's only if this blasted dial-up will do it this side of the next ice age....... ------------------ |

quote: Yes, thanks for offering your help! I need trees like in these screen shots: http://www.garagegames.com/products/6/images/?current=1 And Fishes, birds, flowers, rocks etc like here: http://www.garagegames.com/products/19/images/ And what ever you can think of for environment. I linked to those screen shots because while this game isnt about fancy graphics those screen shots represent the graphical quality we are looking for this game. Yeah you'll need to be able to export into the DTS file format, Torque can only read non-building models in that format, Wings unfortunately cannot export into DTS, Blender does it really good however, if you need any help when it comes to the exporting process I'll gladly help, as Jari (thank you Jari), showed me how to do it ------------------ |

Here's some interesting plant models I found on lowpolycoop: Palm-like tree Another neat one And then a couple wierder more fantasy ones that might not fit your ideal: They have some cool stuff that might fit your needs in the "Ye Olde Tavern" section also, but I dunno'. Cheers! --clint |

WOO! CROSSBOW TOATING FISH! THIS GAME TOTALLY ROCKS! Sorry, couldn't resist, nice screen Jari, your plain really has a nice feeling of scale to it, well done, I also like how you rotated and varied the trees, nicely done, are you planning on adding hills or mountains or anything to the horizen? I was also wondering if you would be opening a beta test any time soon. ------------------ "I am very good at hiding, so if you don't see me, that's where I am." Orc Outlaw, TES III Morrowind |

he did a while ago... but it runs on a server so it hasn't been up... i was going to ask that, when do you think you could put the server back up? ------------------ |
Jari Member Posts: 1471 From: Helsinki, Finland Registered: 03-11-2005 |
Hey thanks for replies guys, I appreciate it a lot! Ereon, thanks for the hill idea! What comes to beta I am hoping to make it to beta within couple of months but we are still missing the server, even one guy said he could give us a server he hasn't reported back for a while. You can read more from the news in the VoHW's site if you like. I don't know if you've implemented this already, but have you tried using a souble layered skysphere? If you use a basic on like you've got in the screen and then layer another one with clouds on it and transparency inbetween and then rotate both of them constantly, and make the transparent one a little faster it gives a really neat effect, it looks REALLY cool at night too, all the coulds drifting over the stars and moon . ------------------ "I am very good at hiding, so if you don't see me, that's where I am." That sounds like a cool feature Ereon but I think I'll have to stick with the regular sky rendering that comes in TGE because there's just too many things on todo at the moment and graphics shouldn't be the main focus in VoHW. Thanks though! ------------------ [VoHW] (Help needed) [Blog] - Truedisciple (mp3) |

Jari, that is looking awesome! I saw the palisade wall yesterday in your blog, and it's cool to see it all come together. Keep up the good work! ------------------ |
Ereon Member Posts: 1018 From: Ohio, United States Registered: 04-12-2005 |
Nice Jari, the polish is really starting to show. I was thinking, what if you made a little "mound" near the base of the wall and then used the same effect that you used on the road to "blend" it in a darker dirt color. That might help bring the browns of the wall and green of the grass together and help make it look more natural and less like two seperate objects. ------------------ "I am very good at hiding, so if you don't see me, that's where I am." Yes we are using TGE. The release date has not been set yet but I hope we can host a demo sometime soon. ------------------ [VoHW] (Help needed) [Blog] - Truedisciple (mp3) |

Thanks buddboy. For a release we still need to work on the server side things even there is already some playable content in game, so it's hard to say when can I host a demo. I'm hoping that next weekend would be possible but it's all in the hands of Lord. Things would go faster if more people would be interested in helping to develop the game. Good news is that you can help by volunteering to beta test the game editor and give feedback (which allows you to play your own maps), that actually helps a lot.
