I was thinking about something earlier today.
this has alot to do with the programming mentor thread.
i want to make a site called "noob-shame.com"
it would have live chat, forums, tutorials, and articles/help.
so, a "n00b" friendly site, where aspiring "n00bs" can get help without getting flamed by some arrogant guy.
a few knowlegdable people could really help this come to fruition.
what do you guys think?

Sounds like Cprogramming except maybe with a little bit more.

Would it span more than one language?

I like the idea! But someone will have ot pay for hosting.... :-( I guess 3 bucks a year isn't that bad for a domain and stuff @ http://www.letzebuerg.org/ it's just $12.95 for the domain registration :-(
mebbe we could use a .tk domain?

I'm not commiting to anything... I'm jsut giving suggestions

well, i think either I (we...?) go with a .tk until later on. Having a ".com" will definitely draw more people. anyway, it would be different from wat goes on here in that its targeted specificaly at "newbies". They could get help on ANY tech subject. (without being mocked, flamed, or insulted.) So if some poor guy wants to know "How do I find My IP address, and what is it exactly?"
We could help him out. Or if he has questions about some slang or whatnot. Im sure there are various places a person could go to find these things, but I want to bring it ALL together in a noob friendly place. (i am little more than a "newbie" and it kinda sux. I feel for the guys who know less than me.)

I think there wouldn't be any problem getting noobs to come to the site, so the question stands where would we get the experts? what would we do to draw the experts? Sure we could offer as information out there as much as we can, but we would need it to be more than just us. So it would have to be just as noob friendly as it would be expert friendly.

We do need experts... however I am on a long journey to becoming one.... I know a lot about windows and Linux (though not as much as I'd like to). We could post "Experts needed" and you and I and others could moderate each post before it is received by the noob.
However this would take a lot of programming... it would be easier to create a mailing list.
