Hi all! I'm working on a Christian project, a game titled "B.O.T.A. Battle of the Ages". I was wondering if anyone knew of a decent place where I could look for some help, mainly in the areas of artwork, and music (music is very very important for this game, I'm looking at Deffmute atm...). I know that this site is ChristianCoders so there are mainly coders here, but I thought since I've been a part of this community for so long that I'd post here to see what you all would think. You can check out info on the project here:

Also, I'm wondering if someone out there who uses Torque could answer a question for me. Would I have to dive into the Torque sourcecode and change it, then recompile in order to design a game that's not an FPS. I've heard this from smoeone in the past, but I'm not entirely sure how true that is. I had started off using OGRE 3D, but I am beginning to think that it may be better to use Torque instead because it is already a proven game engine, so I won't have to design my own!

You technically wouldn't have to change Torque's code to create a game that isn't a fps game. Although you would need to learn Torque script (which is a form of computer code). There are drawbacks to only using script though...

brandon, some of the in game quotes sound pretty good. i can't wait to check out a demo or just see in progress screen shots of it.

Depends on the nature of the changes. Torque did do a good job of putting most of the stuff in scripts. However, if your game has special low-level changes that need to be made, you may have to change some code.

Cool! I have received your email. I'll be replying shortly.

HeardTheWord, CobraA1:
Yeah the script language sounds quite nice, it's good that they have put most of the functionality into the scripts, that should certainly make things move a lot faster and easier. I tried to look at the manual, but I didn't have permissions So.. I'm thinking that I will purchase Torque now. Oh and by reading nfektious' email, I may need to make some low-level changes. But it doesn't sound to difficult right now, since I may just be disabling a few things.

bennythebear:
Thanks! You've probably already seen them, but there are a couple of shots of the main Character here: http://www.3rddaystudios.com/bota/screens.php but they aren't in-game though, and it's very possible that his looks will change some as development continues. But yeah, there will be in-progress shots as well.

Yeah, you need to actually buy torque to read most of the manual.

I figure this game should be designed around an existing 3D engine instead of creating one from scratch... mainly cause I'd like this game to be complete within the next 15 months at least instead of 2-3 years :|

Anyways... has anyone seen the art here?

Really cool artwork! I'll use them for inspiration. =)

EDIT:
Cool! I've found the authors website.
