Hey, whats up? Awesome site. I've been looking for one of these. I'm new here. I found this site by looking up "christian video games" on Google, and well, not as a direct link, but one of the sites I visited had this place linked. I hope to get into this new industry myself, and I believe it to be a part of God's calling in my life. I'm not sure where God wants me to be just yet, but I'm going to be praying for God's direction with that. As far as the area in which I excell, I have experience in Level Design with 3D Game Studio and I own the standard version of A5. As for modeling, I am just learning and have GameSpace 1.6. I've also got TrueSpace 6.6 comming in the mail next month, which I hope to do animation with. I also have experience with the GIMP 2.0 (painting backgrounds/coloring images), and character illustration... Its kind of a broad area of skills, which is a mixed blessing. I used to try to take on a game project all on my own. Never got anything finished, but I did take a few screenshots that made it look like I actually had something done *chuckles*... Which really sums up my game creation experience ever since '94 when I got my first basic computer. I never got anything done... But at least I had a good title screen (or fake screenshot). Which makes me come to think that I'd be best suited in the art department and has helped me take on humility enough to accept the fact that I can't do it all on my own. Submission is another thing I'm learning which is a very important thing to learn as a follower of Christ, and as someone who will most likely have a future working in a team enviroment (I'm sure that covers about everyone... except perhaps old hilbilly hermits with shotguns and a patch of land. And even then they have their, uhm, smellhounds? Er, wait no. They probably wouldn't be submitting to a dog. Maybe feed it... table scraps.) Uhm, so anyawys. Hi, I'm Shawn. |

welcome to the boards shawn. you've gotten more done on a game than i ever have! the furthest i've ever gotten was an idea, and that's about it. i'm thinking of going more of the application/web develpment side of coding. from what i've seen a lot of people who first start out try to do everything on their own. i hope you'll do good at whatever God leads you into, and well, if He led you into it and you follow His lead you can't do anything but good . ------------------ www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |

Well, Two Guys Software is always accepting applicants and I'm sure other companies are looking for talent. Just email your resume to mack@twoguyssoftware.ca if you're interested. We're particularly looking for Level Designers who have experience with 3dsMax, possibly Cartography Shop, and are ready and willing to learn how to use our engine-specific tools. |

Welcome aboard Shawn. Are you looking for a full-time position, part-time, wanting to volunteer, or ??? Definitely be praying and see where God wants you. As D-SIPL says, don't hesitate to ask questions. I'd like to add, don't hesitate to answer questions either as you are probably an expert in many areas. God bless, ------------------ |

LOL I dunno. I just call it "soap". I think I'm going to start off small, so no big projects right away. I'm thinking about just doing some volunteer work here and there just to get the hang of things (working with a team, meeting deadlines, etc.), as well as gaining experience in general. I've been living in my bedroom for the last 5 or so years, and I've got a lot to learn about teamwork and other social things. Thats why I want to start off small. Also, there's priorities I've got to focus on at home which I've spent all too long neglecting. So I figure I'd have to leave art and game design down at the level of "small hobby". Though I've got the skills for making much more of it, I realize I don't have the maturity and discipline enough to handle that kind of responsibility yet. I think the social aspects of working with a team might be good for me. [This message has been edited by Ashton_JX (edited February 24, 2005).] |

Hi Shawn! Welcome to the boards! I'm working on a relatively small project with a few other people. We're developing a top-down space MPOG as a warm-up to bigger projects. If you're looking to get something on your resume', modeling 3d spacecraft is a relatively easy way to go. You can check out the sample engine at http://www.includingjudas.com/clint/AirLockedDemo.zip . There's not much to do at the moment, it's just an offline engine demo to show off some of the features of the engine and to give people a feel for where the game will go in the future. Give me a buzz at hanclinto at gmail.com if you're interested. Thanks, and welcome to CCN! --clint ------------------ |

Sorry, I've already got involved in the CCN One Month Game project. I've also got a model I'm just finishing up on for someone else too. I think the one month project may end up making my hands prety full, so I think I'll have to pass. Thanks for the offer, though. |
