Would you play a rts based on Christian Conversion, if it played something like age of empires? (please respond!)

We need coders and sound plus graphics, and the full post is under help wanted, team required. You can also find details of a game that we are starting to work on.

Why hasn't someone done this before?

I'd say that for me personally, the quality would need to be extremely high. RTS games are just soooo polished these days that the expectations are pretty high.

On a side note, I used to really enjoy the conversion attacks in some of the older RTS games...Warcraft 2's priest could convert from memory, likewise AOE also. Of course turning enemy's into baby seals with the Polytheism(?) spell was also pure class!

for me it depends, wuts it like?
have you ever player Battle Realms? thats a great RTS.
in that your peasents generate themselves and you train them into soldiers. you can also take soldiers and train them as different soldiers. for example. if you train a swordsman to be an archer, he will become an archer with swords. that can be alot of fun to play. try something like that

Amazing Jas, you have a point. It would have to be top of the line to be attractive. The Idea of a Christian RTS has never been done to my knowledge, so that should draw interest in itself. Just the storyline has to be backed up with quality... That is why personwithideas needs coders/sprite artists for his game.

I drew up a rather extensive idea for a christian rts, I would be willing to donate it to a series undertaking with credit noted ofcourse.

This was originaly designed to actualy be made but such a project is rather massive. I spent a couple days on how the game would work and such and actualy got 10 pages down. There is still techicalities to work out and probably a few things shuffled but the main body is there. Here is the overview, I haev ten pages of stuff if you are interested. Email me at astaldaran@yahoo.com for the whole document.

Overview

25 I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God
in its fullness-- 26the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints.
~Colossians 25-26

14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
~Mathew 24

Based on those words we are setting fourth to create a real time strategy game where you spread the message of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior throughout the world.
You are in command of a church that believes the great commission is an urgent quest and on those grounds form a denomination which strives to spread the word of God over the whole world.
You and your competitors must spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all the Earth. When all the Earth has had the chance to accept Jesus Christ as lord and savior, Jesus comes back and the score screen pops up tell who did the best.
Game Goals:
• To make a Christian acceptable and based Real Time Strategy Game
• To make a game that is decidedly fun and even non-Christians will enjoy
• To make a game that will leave a positive impact on the players

don't know that i like the sound of that; we shouldn't compete to share the gospel (at least, in my opinion). maybe have the non-belivers try to kill you (untill you convert them)?

I don't like the idea of competing either. IMHO, a Civilization-like game, where diplomacy and cooperation is a large factor, may be more suitable.

I personally have thouht of the possibility of such a game also, but more of a Civilization/RPG hybrid, where the player starts out as an individual in a land of nearly everybody non-Christian, but through various activities, attempts to convert people and create churches.

Unfortunately, just the fact that it's about converting people will probably lower its popularity. You probably won't get too many non-Christians no matter how good you make it. But then again, who knows?
