Hey guys & gals. I have just released the next version of the site. Before it concentrated on strictly digital art and now it's a community centered on art, literature, and music, basically a place for artists to learn and share. The CiD community update is mostly an upgrade from phpBB to Invision board. A much fuller product (and still free I might add ;-) That means less modding for me I still have some mods to do, but it's in a great shape right now. So far I've made a forum2gallery hack and completely customize their portal software... Figured I'd ask you coders what you think. ------------------ |

I like it, but on the galleries there appear to be no thumbnails. Could these be generated dynamically by any chance? Also, the winks and emoticons seem to be broken, too. I like that floating navigation palette in the corner. Nice job! |

Thanks Most of the smilies are broken from the conversion. I could write a php script to convert them all, but it's not at the top of my priorities All new smilies come out, it's just the converted posts. The thumbnails are generated dynamically with GD2 that was probably the hardest part of the gallery mod as I've never dealt with GD before. Some of the threads have a "No Thumbnail" thumbnail as they are converted discussion threads that weren't posted in the old Galleries. You downgraded from phpBB to Invision ? Just kidding, I'm just a sucker for open source . Mind some advice from a non-IE user? 1) Looks pretty good, almost the same as in IE. 2) "Recommended Sites" seems to be having a problem with text going off the bottom in Mozilla. Worth taking a look. 3) If I tell the Proxomitron to trick the webpage to think it's in IE, I find out that the menu square actually works! It's not transparent, but it is fully functional, and it floats just like in IE. You can add Mozilla-based browsers to the list of supported browers, and change the detection to allow Mozilla float the square . 4) It's a bit wide for 800x600 users. I have a horizontal scrollbar in both browsers. The logo, menu bar, and star-spangled banner put together make it pretty wide. Your page was tested in Mozilla Firebird 0.7. Other than that, looks pretty good . ------------------ |

Argg, that Firebird. Making more work... Yeah, one of my moderators uses Firebird and he's been after me to do the same, so it will get done eventually I'll also do my best to shrink the top for 800x600 Yeah, I love phpBB too. Here's some of the reasons I made the great switch: http://www.creationindigital.com/index.php?showtopic=574&view=findpost&p=3344 Thanks for the C&C ------------------ [This message has been edited by BlazeQ (edited January 19, 2004).] |
