This has been all over the Internet for the past 3 weeks, just thought I'd mention it here. Some dude beat mario 3 in 11 minutes and made a movie of it. It is incredible beyond description. Go watch it, now. http://media.ebaumsworld.com/moSMB3.wmv

If you don't have fast internet, I recommend you right click on the link and just do "save as.." since obviously you won't be able to watch it very well with streaming.

YIKES. The guy has to have played that game, like, forever.

He used a lot of tricks to get to the last level quickly .

I don't wonder if he used any cheats - that was unbelievably perfect! The person had those levels memorized.

Sorry but im not impressed at all. The whisles have been known about for ages- also if anyone spends enough time just sitting and playing one domb game long enough they can get that good. Personaly I see it as a sad outlook to the mantality of the people of our time. If only such devotion could be put into spreading the good news

So, what do the whistles do?

allow you to skip nearly the entire game---there is three of them, two in the first map and one in the second-------that is a great game

Yes, in my opinion, Mario 3 is the best game ever created for 8-bit nintendo.

Angel:
The guy used a lot more than whistles to get through the game quickly. He almost literally flew through the entire game. I'd say he spent more time in the air than on the ground, in fact - what with him bouncing off of enemies everywhere. It would take MONTHS of doing NOTHING but playing mario 3 (no work, no school) to get to being able to do it as well as this guy did it. Granted, it would be a total waste of time, as you said, but, you have to admit that the movie was at least cool to see. Yes, it's sad that someone went to all this trouble, but just lighten up and enjoy it will ya?

I said what I said and wasnt trying to be a party pooper. Also I still am not impressed If the guy did it to get attention to tell others about Christ then I would be impressed. I have the same view about everything. That includes things I do. If my book makes it big I will be useing the funds to get the news about God out.

If you remmember the old music fights done here about who was best. I absolutly was neveer impressed or cared about secular music. Christian music kicks the hell out of any of that crap.

Well I hope thats all clear enough. Again not mad or upset- just simply not impressed

Angel:
Hmm, interesting. Very well, I can accept that.

All:
I have been purposefully withholding the fact that the guy who did this used an emulator that was running at 1/30th the actual game speed. I wanted to see what kind of commentary would spring up, but apparently there aren't as many people who care as I thought there were. Since the topic is almost dead now anyway, I just thought I'd let you guys know. Yes, sorry, it does kind of ruin the awe that is inspired when watching the movie, but, seriously, who could really do that? And besides, it would still take a lot of practice to do all that stuff even at 1/30th the normal speed.

BibleGamer, you're fired. We're talking about Mario 3 from ORIGINAL NINTENDO (NES). You know, like the thing that came before Super Nintendo (SNES). If you had actually watched the video clip, you would've figured this out for yourself and not had to ask the question. Go watch it, it's cool.

HEH - pre-GBA, BibleGamer. In fact, has less power than the GBA, despite being a console (GBA is a little more powerful than Super Nintendo, I think). That's how old it is .

you know, in Japan they are doing a retrospective of NES right now (or Famicom as they called it, which was always consistently manufactured for enthusiasts until Nintendo ended production cycle on it this year) at a photography museum. They have all the nes games ever playable there (it was around 1263 or somehting in that region) and also several special rooms with interviews and special features---it is called LevelX and I am not sure how long it is running, but it is now in its second week. Man, I really wished I lived in Japan!!!!!!!!!!!!
