Hi! Im a christian coder and its taken me a good amount of time to write this on my own. I know lots of online rpgs have bad communities so I want to attract more positive people to the game, please take a look (=

Here I took this one while testing a new release, this is closer to fullsize. The ones on the site might be old.

OK, I've played it. A couple of things:

0. Have at least a few screenshots should show entire interface, not just the game part. Also, make som full-size screenshots available.

1. The game feels pretty sluggish sometimes. Perhaps threads would help?

2. The interface . . . . needs to be written!

3. More work on the tilesets might help - the roads have a "too perfect" look.

[off-topic]Oh no, the two pixel tutorial sites I liked went down .[/off-topic]

Other than that, good start

Zookey: That's probably not me. Yes, I copied my sig .

The only name I try to use on forums is CobraA1 - and it's rarely taken, but I have seen it taken sometimes.

0. I dont take care of screenshots, the website guys do that..the new client release is pretty new and they havent gotten it done yet.

1. Out of all the testers that give me feedback about the game, none of them have said it was sluggish. The game is multi-threaded and runs great on an 800mhz. The only time ive seen it sluggish was on a 233mhz.

2. The interface needs to be written? It is written and works great, do you mean it needs to be skinned?

3. The tilesets are contributed and updated by volunteers and server hosts, we want to keep an old school 2d feel in the game. Smoothed out road tiles would depend on if the players wanted them or not since they choose the graphics.

0. OK.

1. Maybe it was the server or my ISP then? I'm running a 600 MHz machine.

2. Here's what it looks like on my computer:
http://cobraa1.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=28#28

Is that what it's supposed to look like?

3. Just opened the tileset - a lot of standard graphics, I recognize many of them from RPG Maker 2000. The problem isn't really how they look, as much as how they come together - the road and the grass form a sharp edge.

1. If you're running a 600mhz it would probably depend on your graphics card. The game as of version .76 uses opengl with 3d texture panels. If you dont have an acceptable 3d card on your comp that may explain any sluggishness.

2. Thats what it looks like, you dont know how the game works yet so it sounds like you're basing your idea of an 'interface' off a preconception of how it should work. You will have to list specifics and then I can tell you how it works. It's more intuitive than most games.

3. Yes the way the maps come together is entirely based on how the server host and his/her appointed mappers tile them. They can use fancier graphics whenever they wish. It's at half its potential resolution. We have a particular affection for snes style graphics and its not changing.

1. Intel i810 - built-in 3D, but it's fairly low end. It usually handles 2D, even 2D-using-3D, fairly well.

2. My biggest concern is that the word "Inventory" is cut off on my system, and that the inventory seems to dissappear sometimes - yes, I have inventory items in that screenshot, they just dissappeared - I think it happened when I alt-tabbed.

But it does seem a bit . . . black, sparse . . .

3. K. I see - it's up to the person hosting the map, not up to you.

If inventory is cut off your system its either your graphics card or you are running at a low resolution. The inventory items didnt dissapear, it looks like you cycled your inventory pages with tab. You're right it is drab, the 'sparseness' will have to do until one of the 2 graphics people make a skin for the interface, or someone else steps up and does it. I'm the coder, not a graphic artist.

Other then that, looks like a good start. Keep working on it and improving it, you're doing a good job so far .
