http://www.ilumina.com Ilumina has been talked about a couple of times before on the CCN, so I thought this would be worth mentioning. Apparently, they have a "Gold" version out now. They've added the option to read the NLT and the KJV side-by side now, as opposed to just being able to read the NLT before. They've also added some more video sequences, which are always cool. (For those of you who don't know, "Ilumina" is the name of a really cool Bible software program.) I'm kinda miffed about the whole thing, personally. I bought the original Ilumina last Christmas, mainly because of the computer-generated Bible scenes they kept advertising. But I was disappointed to find that they only had 29 videos, each approximately 5 minutes long. I had thought they would've had more movies than that, considering it was the main selling point of their product. Now they have a new version, and they are selling it for twice the price of the original. From what I read, it doesn't look like they have twice as many features. But what ticks me off the most is that they aren't offering a discount for current owners of the original Ilumina. I don't want to pay 90 bucks for only slightly better features. Grrr... †Caleb† ------------------ |

I feel your pain. Not a very professional approach on their behalf. Question, are the videos realtime 3d (like using a 3d game engine) or are they prerendered as .avi's or something? |

They're pre-rendered, high quality quicktime videos. †Caleb† ------------------ |

That's a shame, I reckon that someone using a game engine could do this real well. Imagine being able to walk/fly around the scene to look at it from different perspectives. Sort of interactive machinima. |

amazingjas.. the animated sequences are prerendered - actually AVI files however there is realtime interactive parts.. where you can explorer different areas, rotate around (different parts of jerusalem etc) and click to go load different rooms etc on the way.. as well as inquire about objects in that room going to the encyclopedia parts as for the original illumina you have always been able to download new annimations for free as they come out. ------------------ |
