If God truly wants me to make a game then shall it be done. This is my plan. In the game you play as a person who is stuck-up and thinks Jesus is God but is way to prideful, Jesus sends you to bring the world of the 31st century to Him. John is successful, he is joined by an angel that finds out the demons trying to possess people but then Satan gets the angel. Jesus tells him that he must get back the angel, he gives him the armor of God. There is fierce fighting and much people that you encounter and lots of events. The last boss is a huge ugly strong mega evil creature. At the end the man has become humble and has becoming a spittin image of Jesus (God says in the Bible he'll make us like him) and he says "God, one thing i've wondered why did you use me to get them". God says, "Because one of the strongest enemies was the pride in you that you needed to fight but you could not find it". And the man finds out the last boss was his pride. Tell me what you all think please.

You're not talking about RPG Maker 2000, per chance?

RPG Maker 2000 is commercial software that's sold, it's not freeware.

I love playing action rpgs (Diablo, DungeonSiege, Darkstone etc), but I personally don't really have an inclination to make one. I've never played one of these games made with RPG Maker, but are they anything like Diablo in quality? Just curious.

RPG Maker is an engine for sprite-based console-style RPG's. (Final Fantasy 1-6, Dragon Warrior, etc) So the games aren't anything like action-RPG's like Diablo or Dungeon Siege.

Sorry but I must admit that I am surprised you don't know what RPGmaker2 is, haven't you heard of rpgmaker for ps1? Well it's number 2 for ps2, it comes with a game made by the program. Also I was thinking I would have six playable characters this is my list. P.S. if I do make the game first im goanna make the graphics simple and then later on try and make them better, im not exactly going for money anyways I come from a family with quite a few bucks already.

1. a human named Kezaki
2. a angel named Kenai
3. a monkey named Gonzoo
4. a duck named Warrior Zack
5. a cyborg named SeAira
6. a bear named Baloo

But i've been thinking about not making games. I think God calls us to a humbler, less technology, more of him less of us lifestyle. I know many of you maybe think you can make a game that will change lives. But doesn't loving God and serving your fellowman by ways of preaching and caring for them, teach much more?

This should not be either-or. Instead, I suggest we maximize opportunities and influence by doing both. Think about it this way: how many ways can you think of that evil reaches people? (There are almost too many to count.)

Games are too often used for evil (or at least definitely lacking good) also. They need to be used for good, so either we can influence the world of software, or leave it completely to people who influence it for the worse or who are morally neutral.

Another aspect is that games are fun to play, software is interactive--why not use those qualities to help get across something really valuable?

On the other hand, reaching out to people personally is necessary too. I suggest you read "The Calling" by Brother Andrew--it's a great book about reaching out and the needs that are out there.

But for example, a book and a game are both technology. A writing system is a very old technology, but certainly nothing to sneeze at if you really think about it--it allows someone to share a message with others without being in the same place or time. (Quite impressive.) And of course, the book printing process is a technology too. Would you consider a book a valid way of reaching out to people? If so, why not a game or other software? It conveys also conveys information, sharing that with the book, but can do so more audio-visually and interactively.

Likewise, unless you just reach out to people within walking distance, you'll have to rely on some pretty impressive human technology to get there.

My point is, consider either--or both. Basically, consider reaching out to people whereever and however there's a chance to do so. Let's use any and all technology--from the God-made technology of our own bodies and minds (certainly not low-tech) to the most advanced human-made technology--to do something for God's purposes. And read The Calling!

Best wishes,

Curry
