It's in the showcase now, very early stages, but I think I've got the physics and control working pretty much like the Apache's in BF1942's Desert Combat mod (if you don't know what I'm talking about, you are REALLY missing out!). Anyway, it's only a small download (600K) so let me know what you think! |

Not too shabby, except I can't land. Probably because I'm not slowing up enough Nice helicopter sprite. Also, is it accurate that you can't turn the chopper around? I mean, I didn't know that to go backwards the helicopter takes a 90-degree pitch. [edit]Just wanted to let you know that whatever you're doing to change the resolution is messing with my desktop; it resized my wallpaper. Just a heads up.[/edit] [This message has been edited by BKewl (edited May 01, 2003).] |

Yeah, you can't turn around, that is by design, the caves you have to navigate, are meant to be done in pretty much a forward fashion. Glad you liked the sprite, I'm not a very good 2d artist, so I cheated and created/rendered it in 3d first. Landing takes finesse, and you've gotta get the landing rails right on the platform, not too fast, or the wrong angle either. As to the desktop resizing, I'll have a look at that, what kind of graphics card do you have? |

Weird, I have a radeon 9000 pro and don't have that prob, I'll experiment a bit, but can't see a solution off hand. Oh, just re-read your first comment, and Yes, helicopters can 'reverse' by having a negative pitch, this is just an extreme example of it. It's a very effective way of making a quick landing, ie zoom in, through in some negative pitch which acts as a brake and do a very stylish touchdown!
