I just noticed that the Quest of the Apostles Beta (The story of Paul) is online and you can grab it at the Breakthrough Gaming website.

Little info:
Quest of the Apostles is still a work in progress. Created with RPG Maker 2000,this is a traditional-style Role Playing Game with graphics comparable to Super Nintendo. The player begins as Saul with the mission to destroy Christianity. You must find the followers of Christ and have them arrested or killed. After a miraculous conversion experience, you will begin an incredible adventure as quite possibly the greatest missionary in the history of the Christian church.

Download the beta here!

Found a bug - I encountered the priest in the castle twice, for some odd reason. Nice game, although the walking speed is pretty slow - takes forever to get anywhere.

Finshed the game . Or what's been done so far on it . Looks good. That's just the Saul part - they've got the Paul part to do, so this looks like it's going to be a full-length RPG.

It's a pretty sweet game. The slapping made me crack up... personal fault.
All I would suggest is making the guy faster. waiting is never a fun part of the game. But besides that, I loved it.

You can contact the developer by popping over to his site and making suggestions: http://www.new-mercies.org/QotA.html

Both Gudam warrior and ArchAngel asked for my modified tileset, but this person seems to be somebody else altogether - I gather RPG Maker 2000 is getting rather popular, despite the legal problems with owning it . I'm trying to push adding transparency, colorizing, and HSV effects to GameMaker - if that happens, then GameMaker will be able to do almost everything RPG Maker 2000 does, although with a bit of scripting. I'd really like people to reconsider using RPG Maker 2000, because we're all Christian here, and having an illegal program really makes us look bad.

Could you tell me again how it is illegal.
I would like to know.
From what I saw, it's perfectly legal for my purposes.
I might be wrong, though.

The company sent a letter to the person who did the translation into English. Most websites that hosted RPG Maker 2000 pulled it, and now there's a campaign to have the company release an English version - which you'll probably have to pay for. You're supposed to buy RPG Maker 2000; getting the translated version is considered pirating, since you're getting it for free.

The "copyright" page in the help file was written before the legal action, I'm afraid.

Darn!
I loved that engine, too!
Oh well.

Now, I must find a new (must be cool) RPG engine, or I just might go with GameMaker.

Later!

Some interesting tools there, I liked the one at http://www.spritec.com/ in particular, and reasonably priced. I sound like an advertisement
