Dark aftermath is a 2D platformer, kind of in the same style as Super Metroid about the 7 Year period of tribulation the book of Revelation speaks of. I have been over the book a few times, and have also checked out works by Hilton Sutton( http://www.hilton-sutton.org ) and I have a pretty shaky idea on how I am going to make the story go. This game is targeted at all audiences, but I really hope that I can help a few through it, and mabye inform others. I want your character to have supernatural abilities without going astray from the word, and as you can see in the screenies there is some type of lightning and fireball abilities. I also am planning out having a powerup that lets an angel walk around with you and battle with you for a short period of time. I need some help on this from some of you more experienced members, I am only 15 ... At first, I was going to make you be one of the witnesses, but I dont think that would work seeing as your character visits every possible location on the planet earth, XD. If I took away all the places you go than the game would be a bit boring, because the element of exploration would be depleted. Also, two months worth of pixel-art would be wasted. So, I need some ideas on an explanation of HOW the character got the powers, and WHO he should be. All of the bosses are already made, a bounty hunter working for the beast, and then the four horses mention, the last boss would be the Anti-Christ (the white horse). You wont actually DEFEAT him, but you will wear him out, god then finishes him off and he is cast into the lake of fire. ALL of the plagues are going to occour during the coarse of the game, and I already have the planning for this complete. If you are wondering how I'm going to fit the whole tribulation into one game, there is no response, I guess I will just be making a REALLY long game Actually, 25 Big Detailed Levels are planned, the graphics are done for 6 of them already. Any help would be appriciated, and correct me if I was wrong bibically anywhere! Ideas for the 'spiritual' weapons would be nice. Mabye prayer could be the source, I wonder why I didn't think of that sooner... Note- there will be your standerd weapons as well (Sword, Handgun, Uzi, Laser, Flame Thrower, Rocket Launcher) but only spiritual weapons work against the demon enemies. -Simdrone ------------------ [This message has been edited by Simdrone052 (edited October 17, 2002).] |

Game looks cool, custom engine or using another one? did you do all the art/programming? |
Simdrone052 Member Posts: 13 From: Bartow, Florida, USA Registered: 10-16-2002 |
Custom Engine, and I did all the art, I do have a musician that will be doing songs too. You do kill mortal enemies. This is a list from weakest to strongest... 1- Dog Spiritual Enemies 11- Liar (Flies at a low level, if you get too close he will try to claw you) If I should change the enemies please tell me. I really don't want to make any mistakes. ------------------ PS- the game is in full screen, it changes your resolution. [This message has been edited by Simdrone052 (edited October 17, 2002).] |

What's your justification for killing people in the game? Furthermore, doesn't the Bible say you should be heading for the hills when the end times come? Why then would this guy be doing what he's doing? As a side note, did I hear you say you drew all of this in MS Paint??!!!! †Caleb† ------------------ |

I am sorry, mabye I should change them to robots? I don't know, I just thought it would be neat because all of the events that occour would make a good game. Like the movie Megiddo kinda. Sorry. ------------------ |

PS, yea, I did pixel everything in paint, the particles DO have a glow modifier on them though.
Thx [This message has been edited by Simdrone052 (edited October 18, 2002).] |

Don't change your entire design on one persons view. Modifying the mortal enemies to robots could work well and still give you the edge you need. Personally I believe that some Christians will stealfully do operations work (such as broadcasts, having save places, etc.) and others will do more frontal defensive measures (such as prision breaks). If your looking for the story aspect to your game, you could have the main hero trying to save his/her captured family and have it on a time limit. |

First of all, might I say, this is darn impressive to me, since you're (no offence) 15, and just one guy. About being Biblical...you may want to take a bit of time to ask exactly why any Christian would kill anyone else. After all, remember Jesus' rebuke of Peter: (Matthew 26:52) "Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword." Therefore...I would suggest trying to have the main character fight things that aren't really moral issues to destroy. This basically means anything that's not a human. After all, you don't want some kid to play this game and then walk away thinking that he (or she) can actually fight evil, if only he (or she) can get a rocket launcher. I would also watch out about having the main character actually fight the four horsemen...After all, the Bible never mentions mortal combat between the horsemen and anyone else (after all...how do you fight DEATH, the fourth horseman? Isn't fighting death kinda Jesus' responsibility)? And I know you want people who play the game to have an accurate understanding of the Revelation of John, so I'd try to avoid direct interaction with those characters (the four horsemen, &c). If you already did the art and everything, a camio appearance by those characters would definitely be interesting, but I'd still be careful, since you don't want people to think that anyone actually even gets a shot at fighting these guys. Again, I'm impressed. Just to clarify, though, is the idea to expose the player to all the events of the book of Revelation? Or what? This project looks interesting, and I can't wait to see how it develops! If I may ask, what motivated you to do this game? Hope to visit the board again soon. Good day! |

Okay, the horsemen will now just be in the cutscenes. The enemies are now robots (I just changed the particle effects for them to robot parts and oil, since their armor already look like a robot anyway. And the new bosses will be things no mentioned in the bible. They will be big creatures/robots "made" by the beast and his scientists to try and stop you from getting your family back. You are a guy who has some type of secret code/password that the antichrist wants really bad, so he has taken your family hostage. What do you think of it now. I really thought that revelation would make a good game, so I just decided to make one once I learned how it was possible. [This message has been edited by Simdrone052 (edited October 18, 2002).] |

Wow, that's amazing. I can't imagine drawing an entire game pixel-by-pixel all by myself. I'm impressed. The modifications sound good. But what kind of password could a person possibly have that the Antichrist would need? After all, the Antichrist will have control of practically everything. †Caleb† ------------------ |

I havent decided that yet. Hmm, mabye it wont be a password. I will think of something. He has some sort of secret/knowledge that the antichrist doesnt. Mabye an Item, Arrr, getting late, will edit this post tomorrow. -Sim ------------------ |

I used to edit and add things to Quake 2 player skins with Paint. I always thought that the person who made the skin must have put a lot of time into the skin. Later I found out about PSP and Photoshop That's some pretty awesome work for Paint! BlazeQ ------------------ |
