I have gotten extremely ambitious, so here goes: I would like to know if anyone here could reccomend a free site search engine (besides Google!). Nothing really fancy. But I would like it to be able to exclude certain items from the search (like, only find files that end in the letter "C," or only look for files ending in .html, or something). It doesn't have to be dynamic, just something that I can configure to exclude certain results. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks a lot! (I'm brand new to searching technology, so please do forgive my total ignorance here.)

Hi Jerry, What you could try doing is creating your own search engine using PHP & MySQL. That way, you can use the criteria that you want not what someonce else thinks you should know. Also, because PHP and MySQL are open source, they're free. I had to make one a couple years ago and it wasn't hard. There is loads of help on the net to learn them. There are books you can buy that will teach you how to do it. Below are a few names of books I used to learn them. I'm sorry, there's just no reason anyone should not use Google.  They offer the ability to use their search engine in programs that you write. They have their own API for it even.†Caleb† ------------------ |
