I'm thinking on starting a new project based on the current game engine I have worked for a while (modded TGE). It's an turn based RPG and the story is allegory of Gospel. It's actually allegory in other way such as there are no real weapons but they only remind such and there is no blood because the violence isn't the point but tactics (or strategy).

Few words about the story:
In the story player starts a quest to seek out for deliverance (from slavery) and at start they try to fight against this too powerful enemy, for them (different creatures repsenting evil (or Satan)). But in the end they cannot win but find the power who gives them wictory (Jesus).

I have written more about the story and even few dialogs but I just thought to give short part of it there first.

So the actualy design doc is incomplete but I could finish it (with God's blessing) but I first wanted to ask if there is any one interested to help with this project?

Additional Note:
I was thinking that this could be the first game that I would try to sell. But I should not start this project in order to make profit but to bring the Gospel to RPG gamers this way.

Great idea, Jari.

Here's a great scripture about making a living: Ecclesiastes 5:18, 19 "Behold, that which I have seen to be good and proper is for one to eat and to drink, and to enjoy good in all his labor, in which he labors under the sun, all the days of his life which God has given him; for this is his portion.
19 Every man also to whom God has given riches and wealth, and has given him power to eat of it, and to take his portion, and to rejoice in his labor--this is the gift of God."

On monsters, I've done lots of research in the Word (and only the Word) about how spiritual beings might look. Although I don't have time to dedicate to a large game project right now, I'd be glad to share my research with you.

Thanks JeTSpice. Ecc is good to remember, reminds me about one night seeking meaning for life, reading through it. God has blessed us with much wisdom and instruction, even to all questions in life!

I would be interested in your research. Though Im not sure will behemoth and others work as enemies, after all they fine creations of God. I was thinking of using something serpent/dragon like. Because it's the symbol of evil.

God bless.

How would you implement tactics without violence? This kinda reminds me of one of the levels of Bibleman the game where you have to lose in order to continue. I'm unsure how much I"m willing to dedicate, although I love the idea of an RPG. I don't had TGE though.

Mene-Mene Actually there is violonce in the sense of defeating enemies "by force" like in other game's as well. But what I meant was that there are no blood etc. Just effects to indicate what is happening and who is winning.

Jari,
Here's a rendition of a cherub as described in Ezekiel and Revelation. Perhaps a fallen cherub would look similar.

Thanks JeTSpice.

What I need most for this project is people who can model.

sounds very interesting
so what type of interface would the user have... like is it 3d/2d, is it a world that the user can explore or more of a linear game like classic Mario games?

It's 3D. And this may not be what you asked but as for userinterface there's some 2D guis and moving is done by clicking the ground with cursor.

Yea it's quite linear because of the story. You travel through places like plains, castles, mountains, caves etc.
It's quite similar to BG if you have played the series. Or NWN is also similar.

Hey! Good luck with this project! It's good to see more interest in making Faith-based RPGs

Thanks arissa_nightblade!

I wanted to post this description about the story:

quote:

Men are fighting agaisnt an enemy that enslaves them (sin rules over them unto death (Rom 5:14)). But now they begin a fight against this enemy because they hope to find a way (Jesus) over (be saved) this. The fight is impossible, it's endless (Psa 49:7). Men hope for better and fight for it but so few are with them in this fight while rest are living under slavery not knowing of better because their ruler is whom they love for they are pleased in his way. And those who fight are powerless and without an ally nor anyone to join them because their fate does not look promising.
But they have their hope in a prophecy, that the creator of all would have not forsaken His creations. Because the word has been spoken through the ancients that a great deliverance would come. A great power would appear and give them the strength and victory over their enemies resulting in peace (Jes 53:5). It is a power so great that those who receive it will be freed from the slavery and never held back again (even stumble) under the burden which they used to suffer, but are able to also call all those without hope to this new hope which their creator promises of new inheritance where there will be peace forever (Joh 8:31), (Rom 10:15), (Psa 73:28).
