As aforementioned by CPU, pyweek 5 is coming up. Pyweek 5 is a short 2 weeks and I would like to do some prep work before hand. I would like to get the logistics straight before we start. I want to develop a triage system that will allow people with various levels of time commitment to be able to contribute. (so if you have only 1 hour a day, you can be affective).
(FYI, to those of you who are unfamiliar, pyweek is a week long game dev contest where the game is written in Python all original code and media must be produced within this time frame OR released for public use 1 month prior to the contest period.) For those you who are curious of what pyweek is A number of us participated 6 months ago and it was awesome. ------------------ [This message has been edited by InsanePoet (edited August 17, 2007).] |

Are you asking as to who is going to be doing Pyweek, or who is interested in working in your CCN-based team? I'm considering doing Pyweek again, but if I do, then I'm pretty sure that I will either work alone or in a very small team (as I did last year). --clint [This message has been edited by HanClinto (edited August 17, 2007).] |

Why must it be at the beginning of the school year? PyWeek 4 was at the beginning of Spring quarter, and... why am I whining? I would love to be involved, but I can't commit yet. I'm moving on campus Thursday, and I don't have the slightest clue what my schedule will be like yet (weird registration setup). If you would want me back, I will try to keep in the loop and give you a solid yes or no when we get closer. Is that cool? It was great working with you and the Gang last time, and I would love to do so again. ------------------ |

I am available for a team who would like help with SOUND ONLY. I would even consider dual teaming for sound and SFX if more than one team wanted assistance. Please just let me know. I do not want to do graphics this time around, maybe next time if there is a need Ken ------------------ If you ain't in the forums, you in the againstums :) |

Hrmm. The closer Pyweek 5 gets the less I think I can participate. (I'm really behind schedule right now). ------------------ "Oh, bother," said the Borg. "We've assimilated Pooh." "Socialism works great... if there are no people involved." -- Pastor David Ginter, Union Church of Guatemala. |

So they announced the theme is "Twisted." Is anyone from CCN participating this year? --clint |

Yeah, I'm pretty busy this week too, and I feel like I'd kinda' rather keep working on Finding Keepers Deluxe than start on yet-another-project.

I need an idea. I can't think of anything having to do with twisted. ------------------ "trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your way's, acknowledge him and he will direct your path" proverbs 3:5-6 |

Mazes are twisted. Maybe a maze game of some sort? Or how about you(player) are a tornado(twister) that tears through trailer parks getting points for each mobile home you hit. Maybe you could pick up cars and launch them into trailers. The more I think of it, that is a rather mentally twisted game as well.. ------------------ |

Yeah, it's a tough one, isn't it? I've had a few ideas -- one that I thought about doing was a platformer that has you in a swirling tornado, and you need to get to the top of the tornado where something is (such as your bed or an airplane or something) so that you can ride out the tornado in safety. So you need to climb in this swirling tornado, and there are lots of things that come into the screen randomly that you jump on in order to climb the tornado to get to the top. They just keep moving across the screen (right-to-left and left-to-right) as a big swirling mass. Part of the fun would be in the zany-ness of it all. So not only are you in a twister, but the reality is somewhat twisted as well. I'm picturing things like boards, logs, farm implements, broomsticks, bales of hay, wagons, and the occasional solemn-looking cow. Here's a (very) quick sketch to show you roughly what I'm picturing... I'm not going to make this game -- I just typed this idea up so that you (or anyone else) could use it if they wanted. Cheers! --clint |

Thanks! I can't deside which one to use! ------------------ "trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your way's, acknowledge him and he will direct your path" proverbs 3:5-6 |
