Hey guys, its been a long, long, long while... and I'm missing all of you guys terribly. But... I just haven't done antying game-created related in a long, long while. Oh, I've still got ideas, tons and tons of ideas ranging from very good, to what-is-wrong-with-you?!? I'm close to two things: Getting my own laptop (So then if I AM involved in any game-making, i can finally use AIM and stuff...) and taking classes at my local jr. college for game-design, and 3d modelling. I can't do art, (At least, not 3d) and I can't program (well, I can, but I'm not very good at it... and now I've just gotten rusty which makes me worse) I know this must be annoying, and I know people grumble about "people" like myself who are only willing to do game design, but If you guys have a project, I could like to cotribute ideas, and be in on it.. or if there are some of you who don't yet have a project, you could PM me or ask me here for some of my ideas. Just ask by genere. (Yes, I have that many, some very complex, some pretty simple) =D!! Well, I still miss you guys, but what point is their in me posting here when I'm just sitting on my fat hands? G4C's gonna have his first kid, right? Congrats! -RM (haven't called myself that in a while...) ------------------ |

RM! Good to see you back around! I need to head out, but I just wanted to post and say "what up!" I'd love to have you do some character animation for a game -- I know you can't do 3d modeling, but if you want to do 3d (or even 2d) animation, I'd love to make some of your characters into a game. Stick figure games can be quite a lot of fun to make and play. |

quote: Classic... Anyway, I could use some of your help for pretty much whatever. I generally only use RPG Ideas as I'm like crazy about that subject, but i"d be willing to listen to whatever. Any help whatsoever with coding would be nice as 1. Motivator, having someone count on me makes me motivated. 2. Extra Hands when you get the impulses to code when I don't have one, then you can further the project. I'm not great at programing with a few humble skills. I'm not bad at KOTOR (still haven't beat all 9 lives of Darth Malak on Lightside) but that's beside the point. Even if you don't design, don't code, don't do artwork, don't do flash, don't do any of your talents, it'd be nice to have a friend. (Sappy moment) Anyway, I'll listen to whatever Idea you throw at me, I've got a couple RPG designs myself, I've got WoB that you could help by being an extra pair of coding hands, (BM so that may cause problems) an Artist, or Ideas to improve game content. I've got SW RS 3d which you could be an extra pair of hands (B3d in 3d) an artist (I don't care how bad you think you are, you're probably better than me.) or an extra designer (I need that actually, I'd kinda like to be a "George Lucas" in the fact that I kinda pass everything, but I may be able to adjust) or whatever. I've also got some work on SW PNR Deluxe, that I could use some hands. What point in you posting, its nice to know you're alive, and besides, you can add to the non-programming topics, or respond with what you remember. Besides, how are you typing if you're sitting on your hands? ------------------ I reserve the full right to change my views/theories at any time. |

Han: I could take a crack at animation... I'd like to try 3d, because 2d also invovles my own art... but whatever... gimme a 3d model, tell me what you want it to do, And lets see if I can pull anything off! Mene-Mene: ------------------ |

quote: That would be great! I don't know if you've ever used Blender before, but here's a character that I would love to see animated more: Blender can be a bit confusing to wrap your mind around if you haven't used it before -- if you haven't, I highly recommend starting with an excellent tutorial called Blender Basics 2nd Edition -- it's well worth the time walking through. As far as animations, attack animations would be a great place to start -- I really like the emphasis you put on your characters, I'd love to capture some of that in a game. Alternatively, making them dance would be cool as well. --clint |

If you just want to get some basic shapes, and a little cool modelling quick then I'd suggest www.wings3d.com It doesn't do animation though. ------------------ I reserve the full right to change my views/theories at any time. |

I'd go with a combination of Wings3D and Milkshape (modelling and texturing in Wings, then animating in Milkshape), if you're going to use Blitz3D that is. I have had problems with Blender exporting into Blitz-usable files (though if you did find a way around it that *would* be awesome). Wings is a powerful and easy modellor and I haven't had any problems with it and Blitz with exporting. [This message has been edited by Lava (edited July 17, 2007).] |

*Working through .pdf tut...*
Nevermind.. umm... Once I figure this out, (animation wise...) I'm thinking of different levels of attacks. Level One: Turns head and starts a slap-fight Level Two: (3 animations) stepforward and punch, then go back. Same punch as number 1 with an added uppercut, then step back to ilde. Then the first two punches, with a sharp elbow jab at the end. Level Three: (3 animations) Stepforward and (big) punch, then go back. Same punch, plus spinning diagonal chop, then go back. Same two moves, plus leaping side-kick. Level Four: (if i ever get this far) Sharp elbow to face or stomach, then spinning inside crecent kick. I don't know what this lady is supposed to be, or what she will be doing, but she'll be a very accomlished fighter. Oh, by the way, I know to keep the model centered over the middle., and not moving around. Otherwise that would be a really annyoing thing to work with. Dancing will be the last thing I will work on... if I ever figure blender out at all! ------------------ [This message has been edited by Realm Master (edited July 17, 2007).] [This message has been edited by Realm Master (edited July 17, 2007).] |

If I can figure out how to save animations I might be able to do some hand-to-hand combat animations as I'm a Green Belt in a Korean Martial Art (Tang Soo Do) ------------------ I reserve the full right to change my views/theories at any time. |

Hey, RM -- that sounds great! ![]() Right now, I'm working on a casual multiplayer game with these graphics, but I would like to expand this set of graphics to be usable for a wider array of game types, including fighting games. Also, you're very good at animating attacks and fighting, so I thought that would be a comfortable way for you to get into doing some production-ready 3d animation. --clint |
