I'm looking to increase the architectural facets of my imagination. Does anyone know any good methods, websites, or other resources that will help me become more architecturally varied and knowledgible for my level designs? Right now I'm REALLY in need of an excellent, detailed style of pillar for my Ithia Engine demo (Schools almost over and work will soon begin to progress again) perferably with some nice carving and room for some doable relief work on the pillar itself. Thanks in advance. Ereon ------------------ |

study doric, ionic and/or corinthian columns (as a form of art, not architecture). ------------------ |

I was actually looking for something a bit more interesting than your 3 cardinal types of pillars. I'm trying to find some bigger, and more epic, as well as something more condusive to detailed engravings, reliefs and the like. Possibly something Persian or Celtic, maybe with square sides as opposed to your good old rounded pillar. ------------------ |

it's not really that you should need to 'learn how to create them for real' (ie, go do a Bachelor/Masters on it), unless that is something you wish to do... but rather learn how to search out and find decent reference material... google is your friend... http://images.google.com.au/images?svnum=10&hl=en&gbv=2&q=Persian+Pillars+images&btnG=Search+Images You should just start out with a basic model and then consider the detail you wish to add after the base is created. The base will have to include any large detail (such as if theres a chunk taken out of the pillar, or the like), but all the fine small detail that you'll want when your close to the pillar can just come from ideas from reference pictures. If you want the whole 'Egypt symbols' look then just have a look for images on that subject, then go into your paint program and create a copy or something similar... Hope that helps. ------------------ |
