Help Wanted

installing BYOND in Kubuntu – buddboy

 		I have been trying to install BYOND in Kubuntu... I downloaded the make package and ran make... then i typed 'make here' so i didn't have to run it as root because whenever i type in a password in konsole it doesn't work... lol... well, it said to type a line... and i did... and now it says to add that line to my startup script... they said a few possible names are .profile and .user_profile.. but i can't find it! does anyone know where it would be?

 		There's no need to run make as root. Here's what you should do:

./configure && make && sudo make install

The make install needs root access. If this doesn't work, give us more detail. ChoLUG is dedicated to this kind of linux stuff remember?

 		um... i am installing it for my account only, so it says to type make here. which i did. now i just have to add a line to my startup script, all i have to do is find it! lol... i was wondering if someone who uses/d Kubuntu knew where it was...

 		Hmm I'm not running kubuntu right now so I can't test that but sounds like you have downloaded the source code package, correct? Isn't there a binary package available because if there is you don't have compile it your self?

The source code packages are just for developers.
