Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone would know of any Australian (Queensland would be great) Christian Game Developers? I've been looking around, but have only really found Software Dev Companies. God bless ------------------ |

Micro Forte: www.microforte.com John De Margheriti has plans for doing a game with Biblical themes though I don't know any details. White Knight: www.whiteknightgames.com Should be releasing Timothy and Titus pretty soon. You should also check out www.gdaa.com.au |

Hey, Dartsman! Sorry, I haven't been browsing too much lately so I haven't replied sooner. There are two that I know of, one is Access Phenomenon, and he's in Adelaide (south-west of you), and there's also White Knight Games, which (I believe) is in Perth (*very* south-west of you). White Knight Games just finished their first title, Timothy and Titus, and that will be shipping very soon (Easter) -- I've already got my copy on pre-order. I don't think AP has a completed product yet, though his demo screenshots look *very* cool. Either of them might be able to put you in touch with more developers in the area. Hope that helps! In Christ, Edit: Hah -- Gump, you and I posted within 3 minutes of each other on a 4-day old topic. Oh yeah, John De Margheriti -- how could I forget. BTW, I think his studios are in Sydney and Canberra. [This message has been edited by HanClinto (edited March 20, 2006).] |

wow, i didn't know about micro forte being in the christian scene. Thanks for replying. Was getting a bit worried there was no-one in australia :S Unfortunately they are both like a bit away from where I live (gold coast). I'll surely check them both out though. Thanks again. ------------------ Startup Christian Games Company Producing Mobile/PC Games/Tools |

Glad to hear it, Dartsman -- I hope you can find some more people. Did you contact White Knight? I think they were at the Australian Game Developer's Conference this past year, and so might know of some other Christian software developers up your way. If not, no big deal -- I just know it's awful hard to plug away at a whole game by ones-self. Cheers! In Christ, |

I'm of the opinion that any further fragmentation of the talent pool is not a good thing. |

I didn't actually contact White Knight Games, they didn't seem to look like they wanted to expand at all. Plus them being in Western Australia doesn't help, other side of Australia. I might give them a buzz and find out if they know of anyone round here (Gold Coast). Otherwise there is always the non-Christian Games Companies. Just I'd prefer to work for a Christian company if possible. Anywho, I'm still looking into finding a christian company to work for. ------------------ Startup Christian Games Company Producing Mobile/PC Games/Tools |

Cool. I think that David Lancaster also might have gone to the Australian Game Developer's Conference, and he might know of some people up your way. --clint Edit: Gump -- I totally agree. [This message has been edited by HanClinto (edited April 03, 2006).] |

To make my point clear, while I think that it's fine to pursue your own visions for a game design the problem is that realistically the Christian video games industry hasn't matured enough to support so many small companies. The history of the growth of the mainstream industry is filled with mergers, with people with similar visions coming together. I don't see us getting anywhere as a bunch of small, indepedent companies comprised of a couple people. |

hey, I agree with you gump. Although there isn't much that I can do in my situation. But I have thought of a better idea then just trying to strugle to get a games company going, and that is to try and get together with some other people who are interested in gamd development. I don't know about in the US if you guys have "cell" groups or lifegroups, but it's were we get together in a small group and fellowship with each other (prayer, devotions, sing, etc.). I'm going to see if there are other people who would like to get together to catch up and work on some small projects, or even just chat about game related topics. Kinda like CCN in the real world haha ------------------ Startup Christian Games Company Producing Mobile/PC Games/Tools |

The people in XrucifiX are scattered all over the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and at one point we even had a guy in Israel. Working remotely hasn't stopped us (although we plan to eventually set up a development office). Problem is we're one of the few Christian game developers that allows this. Most require potential employees to relocate to their central location. |

well they can't really expect you to relocate when they aren't paying ya ------------------ |

yeah, even most professional games companies in the US won't offer relocation to international people (unless for a Senior Position) due to word visa's or something anyway. Too bad as Pandemic Studios LA has a Junior Games Programmer position Wish they had that for their Brisbane studio and I would be set :P ------------------ Startup Christian Games Company Producing Mobile/PC Games/Tools |
