We need Testers for the Bible Dave Binaries. All you need to do is download it (nothing else needed), install it and play it. Please report how well this process went.

Download: www.jqsoftware.com/bibledave-setup-0.6.4.exe

This release worked well on the computers in my house. And is the latest version (other than the CVS) available.

When I try to execute the installer it says that it's incomplete or corrupted.

Btw, CPU, Did you check SF.net forums before you released this? Because there was one bug in 0.6.4.

No, but I just played the entire game on a different computer without any problems. They may be corrupted because of segmented upload. I'll try again.

The version that didn't work at all was the 0.6.3 binary and source.

I'll check the forums. But notice that I released this for testing (after it worked for me) not public use.

I love it.
I also have a few sugestions:

credits doesn't work : fix it (it just closes the program)
if you die because you get hit lots the program closes : fix it

I am designing a new GUI for the main game for you, i hope you like it, I also have an items idea, which I will show you once i have finished the GUI.

I guess I am on the team for making the GUI

I hate binaries....................... *sigh*. I wonder is C binaries are just as frustrating.

Yup. If you have a sf.net login I can add you to the BD project.

Thanks guys for the feedback. I'll tell our packager in a few days as he is on Valentine's Day break for a while. Han, Jari, you are too if you want.

Did you play on hard or on normal? On hard they're like MG-42's and it's a blast to get past them.

I tried out Bible Dave. It's a lot of fun! I like the simple platform elements to it.

Only thing I noticed was that the sound had a lot of popping to it. Maybe that's just my system, not sure. Also, when you hit the lava the game quits.

Quite fun though. Good work!

Hmm, was there stars going circles around Dave's head when you were hit by the enemies? If not it means you were playing the previous version and that's just the way sounds are in that version but in the latest BD source (0.6.4) they wont pop anymore like that. Also the goes to main menu in the latest version of BD after dropping to lava.

Thanks for the feedback!

I just tested it as well and it shouldnt quit when you drop in the lava. So it's bit buggy and in fact it's version 0.6.3, not 0.6.4 like the file name says.
The real version 0.6.4 should be coming out soon.

Yes it's written in python.

i've messed with python a little bit, it just blows my mind to see a game made in something i view as a "scripting" language. i'm use to seeing it in a python interpretor(i don't like them), and notepad. is there a free compiler for python? if i ever write anything in python it will prob'ly be a script, but i've been tossing around the idea of learning it to make some stuff that i think would make linux easier for the windows loser...i mean user (me being one). like maybe program or whatever linux would call it, that automatically configured ndiswrapper, set the driver to auto load with the system, and set up with some sort of wireless scanner program that would auto detect "hotspots"(ie routers and they're info). i wish linux developers would make linux more user friendly, at least the option of being user friendly or a distro that is user friendly. i mean, people may talk smack about windows, but there's a reason it's #1, it does everything easily, and usually it works the first time. anyway...i know both have pros and cons...anyway...sorry for getting so far off topic.

What do you mean by compiler? Did you mean interpreter? If so, yes, go to www.python.org

Good idea. I use it all the time for simple things that I can do in bash (I don't have the heart to learn bash right now).

What distro do you have? If you have Ubuntu, head over to ubuntuforums.org and ask for help on your problem there. Most people are very nice and friendly and solved many of my issues.

(Thanks for the info on the game!)
