i am developing an application that is basically an "active desktop er previous effortgenerator", if u will. The program will help those without knowledge of dhtml to create active desktop items such as media players and notes.

eventually it will need a GUI, tho for the beta, command line will work.

we already have 2 people who can cover the html/css/javascript/etc... aspects of the items. I am requesting some1 who can build the program itself. I can do it, but i dont have the skill right now to make it as i wish it to be. It really isnt a huge undertaking, i just dont have the skill to do it well.

the language i would prefer to use is C++. Others are acceptable.

if you are wondering if this will be open source, i am not sure yet. it depends on how the other person i am working with feels. i know that she has made quite a bit of money on hs, and may not want to...."waste her time", if thats how she chooses to view it.

(2 last notes:: 1)obviously we will be designing for windows since its working with active desktop
2) i am aware of the memory usage and have a plan for helping the user decide what is best for them)

well, i have about the same skill level as u, and was hoping for some1 who can do the work i cant cover as far as the C++ goes. but if u think u can help, i am fine with that. this project will be finished within a few months (i hope).
u asked for clarification:::

the program will accept input from the user about things like bg color, font color, borders, font, media to be used, content of notes, etc... and from there generate the items.

basicaly, it writes the html/css/js for them by writing to a file and saving as the appropriate filetype.

then they just have to select the item from the desktop properties menu. (there will be a tutorial with images to help real beginners)

help at all?

well, buddboy, by chat wars u mean when a bunch of people that go to school together get online and spread all kinds of drama, and u intend make a prog that will....organize this? i think the debate one is cool tho...

in fact if u want u can include that as an item given to the user in the download, u know, like a default, or u can just work on it with my (two person so far, lol) team, and put them out under the same title. otherwise theres nothing i can really have to do with it, and u almost hijacked the thread.

@RM: again, i am looking for some1 who can easily deal with the tasks at hand (quickly) and perhaps set up a GUI later on. can u do this? if not, it might be easier for me to do it myself.

anyway, i am not trying to be rude. trust me, i want a big team and the works. I just know that anything unnecessary is really sorta in the way, and i want to get this program done quickly, and make it high quality.

I can provide some early screenies of what we have so far (not too impressive) if anybody thinks it will help them get a general idea of what the items (not the program that generates them) will look like.

one more thing:: some of u may mention konfabulator. my program is different in that it generates active desktop items, rather than running widgets which are actually individual programs in themselves. (so i believe).

the items created by my program are actually a part of the desktop, and being so, a user can choose to put icons on the items, make the icons flow around them, whatever they decide.

by chat wars i meant like this: (example of a chat war, bold and italics denote different people)

*swings sword over head, slashes at opponent*

*blocks with shield, stabs opponent in ribcage, breaks 3 ribs*

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
i know it sounds a little dumb or boring, but people enjoy it (myself for one)i just got done with one... just an idea
as long as u dont intend to market it, it doesnt matter what others think. its how much u enjoy. if u plan to sell it, well, thats a different story.
yah... i wasn't gonna sell it, just make it available for free, and for fun, probably would make it an online thing, not something you need to install, but i might have to make it downloadable... but first i need to make it lol!!
its really...not.
i have found it difficult to find a willing (skilled) c++ coder. of course. eh. i will have to get much better myself, and work as I learn . this slows development alot, but it'll be good for me anyway, i suppose.
i havnt given up hope tho. I am currently involved in modding a game (no big deal) and am supposed to be picking up dev on my DigitalDisciple game in mid january.
