Greetings Everyone,

I am writing for the express purpose of seeking
people that wish to help make a Christian friendly
M.U.D-like game a reality hopefully by Christmas of 2006.

I believe that ours is a unique blending of
Science Fiction and Christian Oriented approaches
to creating a M.U.D-like game. The name of this M.U.D
(Multi User Dimension)-like game is called The Way MUD.

I would be looking for people that have a love for
the science fiction genre AND that are Christians
interested in spreading the Good News of the Gospel to the
predominately lost mudding population. We need
people able to come up with Good plotlines, quests,
puzzles, and stories both Christian Oriented and
science fiction oriented secular (but not sinful in
content.) Both will be put into play. Also, if you know C#,
or are willing to learn C# basics, you could help us
write the C# scripts that will power the game.

We will be using the new MITE engine under development
by HanClinto. Clint's engine is so full of potential to do miraculous things. It is TOTALLY configurable via the writing of C# scripts, a Windows GUI (that we can tell you how to use), has VT100 windows,
and so many software features that it would take quite a
while to list them.

Heres a preview of some of the plans for The Way MUD.

1) The current working storyline is set in the year 3900
a.d.. Jesus has not returned yet in this game setting
but He is expected at any time. Man is exploring the solar
system and beyond. Technology is high level and much is known
but yet man still doesnt totally know the mysteries of the
universe nor about itself yet. The Good News of the Gospel
is spreading from planet to planet and many are coming to Jesus.

1a) Currently I am working on a storyline for the game where
there is a new planet recently discovered that has an miniture
singularity as a sun and Portals found on this planet open doorways
in Time and Space to various planets, places, times, and dimensions.
An Portal accident has occured on this planet and now our universe
is under the attack of the inhabitants of the so called "Darker
Dimension". The Darker Dimension is a strange evil place where
many laws of nature behave oddly. These "aliens" are lead by a
galactic world leader who is now obsessed with conquering our universe.
But even in the Darker Dimension, there are some who believe in the
One True GOD but do not know yet know His name. These Rebels, once
they hear about Jesus, may convert over and help the human cause.

2) The Way MUD will feature several types of enhanced Human beings,
normals, and mechanicals. Intergrators, Doctors, Smiths, Patrollers,
Cyborgs, etc will be around.

3) There is a race of "Ancients" that will act as GMs and Coders.
These ancients will also have the task of leading quests, doing in
game events, doing player control, sharing the gospel *IF* someone
wants to hear it, etc.

You see, the average mudder needs a game that is somewhat familar to
what they are accustomed to in order to have fun. So the Science fiction
atmosphere is the draw and then once in the game, the Gospel will be
introduced in a primarily NOT in your Face way.

Several features that are different from other muds of the average type are:

A) NO BODIES or organ parts laying around. People can get hurt but they
do NOT leave a body laying around. All areas in the game have
satellites that USUALLY beam players out of danger once they hit a certain level of damage. However, YOU can die and "It is appointed once unto man to die and then the Judgement!". But in order to make this a infrequent event, the satellite safetys are in play. Even the aliens go poof on deadman switches that take them back to their dimension. They drop their inventories and maybe other goodies but no body/guts laying around.

B) Players will be either combative or peaceful. There is no player vs player combat outside of arenas of challenge. Nobody dies in these arenas. Combative players face the aliens, monsters, and other problems. Peacefuls gain levels thru doing good things, backing up the combatants with healing (medical and science based), and socializing. Of course the two types can mix a bit.

C) much much more to come....

So in closing, if this interests you and you would like to help us create
the Way MUD and spread the Gospel to muding type players, please either join www.groups.yahoo.com/group/thewaymud or email me at RIFLEFIRE@AOL.COM for further instructions.

Please note that, at this time, MITE is still under
development and so you would be learning a system that
is still undergoing some change. But once you know the
basic essentials, you will be able to help us make demo
worlds, for the moment, until MITE reaches BETA status.
Once MITE is in beta, we will begin building the actual
The Way MUD game. Beta at the current time is around say
early 2006. Also, at this time, MITE runs on XP (for the GUI),
and requires the .NET 1.1 framework file to be installed to run.
Ask for more info if you want to be writing scripts for TheWayMud.

Smile, well currently, we are doing some demo worlds with quests. Would love for you to join us and make up some mini quests for us to see if we can do them in the C# scripts. We are using the time before MITE reaches beta to see if we can create what you may be interested in doing. Testing our ability to create what the writers want done. So dont hold back, offer up a few mini quests and we will see if it can be done. Then we will know we can do the big major quests for you at beta time.

well, i joined the group and posted a hello message.

i think i may even pick up a little C# and help you guys in that department.

One of the reasons I am interested :

the vision of the game seems pretty much in line with my own. Moraly sound games that don't shove God and salvation in the players face, but rather promote it and make it......appealing.

Ok CrazyishOne is on our team. He is helping us with good conceptual ideas and simulated user sessions. However, we really really need to have some people who can help us write the c# scripts. I am about the only one right now who has the time to do so and I am hard pressed with my limited knowledge of C#. So if anyone here knows a little c# and would be willing to give me a hand, it would be vastly appreciated.

Hey... C#... is there a difference between C++ and C#... i know some C++ (but not much in the process of learning it)... But i can help with what I know and I can help with story-writing and level design and graphics (some)... I also have a Christian (well, catholic, but...) friend who is an AWESOME story-writer (he's got a tv show written up in 1053 episodes so far but its not on the air cuz he's 16) I can ask him to help... I don't bring as much to the table as him (just in more categories) but we would both love to help... It's not too late is it?

There are some differences between C++ and C# (I think C# is cleaner), but if you can read one, you can almost certainly read the other -- they are extremely similar.

No, it's definitely not too late to join up -- head over to the Yahoo group and introduce yourself -- you would be most welcome!

Cheers!
