Know about as much about God's will as anyone else, I could be entirely wrong in saying this, but I don't think I am: I feel that God has called me to start an online Christian MMO.

I have a bachelor's in Computer Science. I consider myself pretty good at writing out plotlines. I've taken a few drawing lessons and can make a horse not look like a fish. I can hold a tune and know which end of the guitar to blow in. And I know that toast does not make a good memory backup for a server.

Essentially, I have the most basic skills needed to spearhead a project like this, but I have zero resources. The Project is entirely on the ground level right now and all I'm trying to do is generate interest in it. Once I get around ten people actually in the group, we'll start throwing around game ideas, so I don't even really *need* coders, writers, musicians, donors, and artists right now.

But I will.

So, I guess what I'm asking for immediately is to join my group. If you join it, fly to Tokyo, and I never hear from you again, well...that would be weird, but the very least I would ask is that you join. Takes five seconds, scouts honor.

That's the immediate/urgent problems. The important part is that I can start gaining people who have video game making skills. I don't need them right away, since we're not at that point, but if you have any abilities, I'd like to ask you to prayerfully considering taking me on as your next project, whenever you finish the one you're in currently.

And...that's about it. God bless, and please tip your waiters.

Hi crosstek, welcome to the forums!

Can you tell us more about this game?
What kind of MMO you planned to make exactly?

Thanks.

I have a theme, combat system, and what have you in mind...but the beauty of it is, is that I don't want this to be my game. I think one of the fundamentals in building a group cooperative game is to have a group cooperatively build it, from the ground up. But, since you probably want to at least get an idea of what I personally envision, here's a rough sketch.

'Credo' is the Latin word for "I believe". We derive our English word 'creed' from it because it begins every statement of belief in the Christian faith, such as the Apostles Creed and the Nicean Creed. Every human being, Christian and non-Christian alike, lives in the world of belief, of Credo. And in the world -- as seen in todays world -- a war of beliefs is always raging.

Credo is a world of metaphor. You control an Avatar, the spiritual version of you who lives in the realm. It's your mission to preach the Truth to others, which is represented in the form of combat. People choose not to believe in Christ for many reasons, and these reasons take the form of Vices, or enemies to the cause. Greed, for example, or Pride. Mirroring reality, some Avatars are better equipped to deal with certain Vices, and vice versa. When the Vice(s) is/are vanquished, the Truth can be delivered, and the trapped mind can be freed.

Naturally, every other game element needs fine tuning...a lot of fine tuning. I've hammered out some ideas we *could* use, but this game isn't about me. If you'd like to stay informed about where this is going, feel free to visit the Yahoo Group at http://games.groups.yahoo.com/groups/projectcredo

Thanks!
