Is visual C++.net as good as just the normal visual C++. I know you can make internet apps with .net but can you just do applications for windows? and is the IDE as good? ------------------ |

quote: Depends on what you want to do.
quote: Yes. It seems that both .NET and Java are seen primarily as Internet languages, so people tend to forget that yes, they can create regular apps.

I think he/she means from the Visual Studio 6.0, 5.0 etc. Starting with .Net could be good, because when I went from Visual Studio 6.0 to .Net I hated it, it was doing things without asking for them, it was filling up forms when you started them, when you start the form should be empty and yet there was code and comments (Visual Basic), starting with .Net would be good because then you can work DOWN to other IDEs. I don't know my C++ though. [This message has been edited by Goldrush13 (edited April 10, 2005).] |

vs.net 2003 is cool, even if the IDE can be a slow dog, for normal C++ (not managed dot net).. it can do anything, its just a newer , more optomised compiler with less bugs.. but it allows you to o managed C++ (dotnet) or a mixture within... for example i wrote one managed DLL (assembly) , that had of coruse managed dotnet code in it, as well as unmanaged C++ and inline assembler. ------------------ |
