Hi, Due to health reasons I left my previous employment as a software engineer and am now actively going self-employed as a 3D games developer. Initially I was going to pursue this alone, but it is hard to keep motivated and I still have a lot to learn about 3D modelling. It would be great to find someone who has good 3D modelling and texturing skills who is interested in joining a very small team. My current project is a fun combat flight simulator with strategic elements and is not 'Christian' in any way. I already have a 3D landscape, basic AI and 'fun' fixed wing and helicopter flight physics completed. Additionally, I have fairly detailed plans of the game and its mechanics 'on paper' for those parts not yet implemented in code. The 3D models required for the flight sim will be low poly and fairly simple textures (except for the players aircraft which will be more detailed). If I am able to complete this first project, I have some fairly ambitious plans for a 'Christian' game. This will have its essence in a 3D isometric RPG game and I already have quite a few details and mechanics laid down on paper. However, I hope it will be quite different from most RPG games being aimed at a more mature audience, and its Christian slant is not the usual 'bad guys are demons' type thing. This game will use more detailed models/textures and include character animation. I also have other game concept ideas, some of them with a Christian/moral theme others without. However, no games will include anything I feel is degrading or harmful (although this is always open to discussion and everyone has their own views on what exactly is good and what is bad). I may consider developing one of these concepts before or during the RPG game development. So, if you are a Christian and preferably from the UK (although not essential) and think you might like to be involved, then please get in touch. I would hope to form a long-term partnership both to create challenging 3D games and also to benefit us financially. As such, you should be able to give a fair bit of time to the project(s). For your information, I am 36 years old, married with two children and became a Christian 15 years ago. Please feel free to post any further questions or email me. Thanks, |

Hiya, I live near Manchester ![]() Here are links to some screenies taken at 800x600 (so some jaggies), although game also supports 640x480 and 1024x768. Obviously, its all still a work in progress and the code is not optimised, blah, blah, etc Picture of terrain from cockpit Another picture of terrain with alternative texturing and 'grid lines'. You can see some untextured buildings in the distance (which are being used for scalling and basic ground AI movement). This just shows some very basic, untextured cube buildings and a plane (mainly for scaling purposes at this stage). Hope they help? If people are interested, I will post more screen shots as the game develops. I am currently focusing on ground AI and the strategy elements, so not much to see developing graphicaly atm. But once that is done I will start adding proper scenery, models, weapons and explosions etc. Rhyolite [This message has been edited by Rhyolite (edited February 09, 2005).] |

Just to clarify, you do NOT need to be an expert modeller/texturer with nothing to do all day. Just so long as you could complete about ten low-poly vehicle models and about the same number of fairly simple buildings/structures within three months. None of the models will be seen close up, so detail and texturing is fairly simple - it is a flight sim after all and the player will be travelling at high speeds and generally at a reasonable distance from the models. Hey Rhyolite, I can do that. I'm familiar with Blitz3D and many of the dev. tools associated with it. Just give me an email, and let me know what ya need. It looks pretty good so far btw! ------------------ |

Ok, thought I would update anyone who is interested ![]() Brandon expressed a desire to help me, unfortuantly he has been very busy with other committments and so has not found the time to help out. A big thanks still goes to Brandon for the time he spent talking a few things over with me - Cheers m8 Progress is going well, although it always seems to take longer than expected and I have been picking up colds and the like off my kids! Anyway, I have been mainly concentrating on the AI so not much to see graphicaly but here are a couple of screen shots of vehicle convoys moving across the desert. As you will see, all the models are just placeholders for the final thing. So, if anyone is interested in helping out with 3D modelling then get in touch and perhaps the next set of screenies I post will look better Convoy leaving a town
