Ok you guys are the code people so I have a qustions (being that im a story writer and not a coder). This page replaced my homepage. If I go there for some odd reason my cd ejects itself. Now I have a viruse protecter that I keep updaited almost everyday. Is the cd thing just a flook like the microsoft hack thing that is atributed to IE.

It's not as though anything on my cpu could make any probs for me. My book is under copy right with the patent office so it cant be simply stolen and sold. Then I have left no numbers anywhere to my bank acount or any crud like that...

blah in short im wandering if you peeps can help me settle my mind about getting a new prog to protect my pc.

PS the funny thing about it was that it said this

Windows 98 is Your Operating System
You are in Hutto, United States

I use ME not 98 and i've never even heard of hutto :P

Came across this via Google:
http://tired-of-spam.home.comcast.net/syspage.html

Do you use any Peer-to-peer programs like Kazaa or things of that nature?

I was informed of this application that has helped remove unwanted adware, spyware, etc on my machine and it has been nice to get my machine back running like it used to. Check out Spybot-Search & Destroy here: http://www.safer-networking.org

IF you decide to use that tool, be sure to read the help file so you can understand what the program can do and how to repair anything it does that you need restored. I have found it to be an excellent tool to have with the unending spam and such that exists out there.

You might also need to look into other processes to remove the problem, like manually editing your Registry or such. If you run into any difficulties or need more help, it might be worth it to post here again. You don't want to go editing a Registry if you've not done it before, unless you can afford to lose possibly crucial data on your system

Good luck bro,
Matt

The Spybot app allows you the option several levels of protection, one of which is changing the accessibility to the default home page setting. Through Spybot, you can force this setting for your home page and it will not be accessible through IE - only through Spybot.
The other levels of protection are more advanced - checking for known registry settings that are added or changed by malicious code and such.
Like I mentioned before, the nicest feature I think is the option to undo what the application has done. Of course, you do have the option of selecting what the application does or does not do as it goes through its process. So any data you know you need for a particular program, you can disallow Spybot from removing that data while still allowing Spybot to rid unknown, unfamiliar or unwanted data from your system. If you encounter a problem on an application that was working prior to the Spybot fix, you can go back into Spybot and restore that particular data to your system.

I really don't mean to be selling the app...I just think it is great

Was that directed at me? I meant that spyware (the programs downloaded by sites) are annoying. The stuff that gets rid of them (Spybot etc.) are great things!

I had over 170 spyware once!!!
