For my modeling needs I use Hash (Animation: Master) which I've just started to learn properly how to use (I never had the time before, now I'm using a version from 1999, heh ). It supports quiet a bit of stuff, it's inexpensive (compaired to alot of other modeling packages), although it's not pacifically built to create models for games (something I've been working around) it's nice to check out. I thought they had a demo somewhere, but I think I'm wrong.

GMax is nice, but sadly, you can't export the stuff you make and us it. It's pretty much worthless.

Well I found a way to run everything in TS. So no probs anymore. You have to do something that isnt even mentouned in their flippen manual. Still my hats off to TS for their easy to use sys. 3DMax is a headake and thats the nice way of putting it.

Gmax is primarily a tool for games that were developed with 3DS models. It really is more of a mod tool than an independent model utility. From what I understand you can export the models out of gmax, but you are limited to the model formats of the game you are modeling for. I'm not certain about all of this as I don't use it. I just know it is a somewhat popular application for learning the essentials on character design.

My hat's off to you Angel for getting TS to work for you. Congratulations! I found TS to be less-than-expected for my tastes - but that is an opinion I agree that 3DS is rather complicated in its interface, but once you can conquer that it really is a nice package. I prefer the simpler interface of Lightwave myself.

God bless,

Now, that's not true. Maybe there'sa retail version of GMax that does that, but the free download of GMax does not allow you to export files in any way, shape or form, and it DOES NOT allow you to import your projects into 3DSMAX. It is only a marketing tool, to get people to learn how 3dsmax works. You migt be able to buy a version that lets you export for specific games, I don't remember the details on that though.
