I'm seriously interested in making a 3-8 children's game (before my children turn into teenagers!). I needed some cute rocks and the elancer I was using effectively evaporated on me. I need a bunch of models and animations (not just rocks only).

If you are willing and able, please send relevant info and inquiries to job1@xuvion.com.

Thanks.

Hey Xuvion!

Congrats on your first CCN Post! Also, keep us posted on your project!

As you probably already know, there are some Christian games for that age range already:
Charlie Church Mouse
Gil's Bible Jumble
The three from Big Idea

For models, check out turbosquid.com, they have some free models but more are for sale. http://www.turbosquid.com/

3D Cafe has some free ones, http://www.3dcafe.com/asp/default.asp

You needing textures too?

Could you share your insight into Elance (separate post or Email me). I've been following the site though haven't signed up to bid on jobs yet.

Look to Jesus,
Tim

Hi, Tim.

Thanks. It's not a Christian game as much as a game made by a Christian.

I can only share my perspective of Elance from a buyer's viewpoint. If that's what you want, I'll share my criteria:

1. I examine the user profile for listed abilities and skills
2. I examine the portfolio for applicability to the project
3. I examine the feedback to indicate whether item #1 is actually implemented and how well
4. The price is an issue that can automatically lock out a bidder but I just recently picked someone that was at the highest point of the range I was going to consider based on items #1-3. BUT, he had re-bid to fit my apparent price range. If you have no feedback, you'd better have a strong portfolio and an attractive price for consideration.
5. Applicable attached samples always wins extra points with me and I assigned one project based largely on that.
6. I guess it can get hectic with a lot of projects and a lot of bids, but service providers that seem to actually read my project descriptions are less likely to get bumped off in the initial round
7. If you provide website-building services, you should take care of your own 'house' first. That became a consideration when I narrowed it down to a final three.

Honestly, I have had mixed results with Elance which is why I am posting here.

Regards,

Joshua

Thanks for the info Joshua.

I have a day job and the Christian games for a side job, so don't have a lot of free time but Elance intrigued me. I did ExpertCity for a while and it was nice to make extra cash. Elance is also an option for a programmer I know that is job hunting.

Back to your models, please oh please, keep us posted if you find some more decent free ones. We'll be needing all the resources we can get if we take our game into 3D with the Torque Engine. Either post here or Email me directly at Tim@GraceWorksInteractive.com .

I hope God helps your game efforts!
Tim
