Hi! I'm a regular Christian Coders visitor for the past 9 months now! S if this doesn't make sense just blaim me being 11 =)I recently started using a program called Game Maker and I'm working on a RPG and i'm a newbie. I've started off pretty good, but i need some help. What i'm after is (these are ideal amounts but more or less is ok):

------------------------------------------------------------
I need | Min I'd like | Max I'd like
------------------------------------------------------------
Programmers - use to GM a lot | 2 | 15
Programmers - new or learning | 5 | 15
Graphics/Sprites - The Gimp | 1 | 3
Graphics/Sprites - Photsoshop | 2 |5
Graphics/Sprites - Paint Shop Pro |2 |5
Graphics/Sprites - Other Program |2 |2
Muscians - MP3 |1 |?
Muscians - Wav |1 |?
Muscians - other formats |0 |1
Alpha and Beta Testers |5 |10
Website - PHP, SSI, etc |1 |3
Level Design |2 |6
Story Line |1 |2
------------------------------------------------------------
TOTAL |25 |64
Overall | 89
------------------------------------------------------------
If you know of anything else i've forgotten please contact me about it. Please send me an email at ayden161@hotmail.com, thats ayden161@hotmail.com in case you missed it. Also, everyone will be credited for there work on the net and in the game (like in credits). Also, you won't be paid unless the game makes a profit. Honestly, i don't think that i'll get the full 78 people, but it would be good.
------------------------------------------------------------
Please, i'm after people who are actually interested.

Thanks

Ayden

Do you have a design doc for people to take a look at? It helps a lot when trying to recruit people.

Well, if you need someone to do a PHP website, I can certainly help with that =) (Your mail is in the cyber post)

D-SIPL has a good point for recruiting. A design doc should give prospective employees a good chance to see what you have planned for them, and they may be able to give some more ideas from their experience.

Good luck!

89 people, that 1/3 of the people here

Here's my worthless advice...

If you want to make an RPG, you must first have a plan, what is the game, what is is about etc...

Next, visualize what the character are going to look like and what the game will look like.
(BTW. Start simple, make a simple 2D game first, walk before you run)

Now get working, it's best to pick up some amature skills first. Graphics design can be fun. Look at the graphics from other games and see how they did it.

There is SO much i could say.

God Bless

My advice:

If you want to do an RPG game, get RPG Toolkit it is MUCH more suited for RPG games than Game Maker.

http://www.rpgtoolkit.com

I really suggest getting the book: Swords & Circuitry: A Designer's Guide to Computer Role-Playing Games Published by Prima Tech.

You could probably save on artwork by going to:

http://www.reinerstileset.4players.de:1059/englisch.htm

and clicking on Tilesets.

Yes, i have actually =) The website is now got someone converting it to php, i've got someone to do level design, a story writer who may program (still deciding) and two midis (not custom though). I tried BB2d but i'm going to try that rpgtoolkit next. The forum will open soon too. You said 'design doc', do you mean like a plan of the game, storyline and everything like that? The current story line might be something like "Within the archipeligo of Crescent Moon a hero lies dorment. His past haunts him, and the future only holds another drunken day at the docks. When a seagle drops down and tells him danger comes, he shrugs it off as a drunken hallucination. But when pirates raid the shipyard the next day, he is dumbfounded. He is given strange clues and even stranger directions by everything from a doorknob to a broken chair. Who leads him, and what are their motives? Whatever the answers may be, a lost hero's been awaken to a strange world, where not even alcohol can wash away the harsh realitys."But thats up to our storywriter to decideupon. I still need people to do graphics and some assistant programmers.

That should give some ideas for design documents. I've never been good at writing them myself, but I'm going to have to sit down and hammer one out for my project.

Nice story idea too. It's got me intrigued already! =D

Good on ya Ayden.

Unfortunately I won't be able to help you, but I will be working on a very extensive tutorial on how to make a rpg game with gamemaker. Though this will take time for I will be making it as I am making my game.

With tiles, do a search on google for dungeoncrafter. There are may tiles freely available with that dungeon mapper program, and they are quite good quality.

I din't write that, my storywriter came up with. And the website is still under construction. I'm also working on a GM tutorial for a CD player.
