Well I saw this going on when I was in Grants Pass Orgon. There was this RPG place that sold books and what not. In the back the guy had about 5 cpus there. He charged people to play cumershal games there such as Ever Quest. I was wandering if this is legal or not and or what are the rules to such a thing. One person said that as long as I have a CD for each cpu then it is legal. Still I am wandering what some expierenced people think about that. ------------------ |

If you have the CD for each system running the game, then it is legal unless it's pacifically stated that you are not allowed to do so in the End-User Licencing Agreement when you first install the game. ------------------ The Christian Game Alliance - Free web hosting for Christian game projects! |

Hi Angel and Mack, A local store that was doing this recently went out of business (not sure why, my pure guess is lack of revenue). So, it can be done - just make sure the business side of it computes. Be sure to read the licenses ... you may have to buy a special license of a particular game. Hopefully not though. You mentioned EverQuest, that would probably be legal if the guy was just basically providing the machine. If he was letting various players use his or a single account, then Sony may not like that since I'm sure their licensing locks up a single user to an account/credit card. I've been tempted to start a business like this too ... great excuse to buy lots of machines and the latest games. The hard part would be enforcing the Christian overtones that I would require (no cussing, hitting, spitting, etc.). Since a good portion of the customers would be teenagers, it may not be worth the headaches. Be praying about it Angel. ------------------ |

I was thinking about that same thing so that was the maybe bit. I wouldnt call it a Christian point of view however. I would call it commen curtisy to other players. Besides haveing obnocios people around your bizzness isnt good bizzness. Well to me anyways. I have no respect for places like that and many other non-christians that I know of dont care for it eather. That guy was letting them use the same registry. He wasnt providing just the muchien. No one took there CD with them when they left. Much less even botherd to tuch the CD drive. Who knows... I was thinking of games that had nothing to do with the net. More like IPX or something like that where you could run 8 people at eachother for the fun of it. Games like Unreal or Shogo. Or maybe something like Starcraft. Some games that I have see support 18 people over an IPX. I dont have the cash to invest in this sorta thing right now. Im looking more at getting my own home Let me know if you go ahead with the idea! ------------------ |
