Curious if there are any artists (traditional or computer, 2D or 3D) or sound engineers/musicians that are available to help contribute to the Christian Adventure games I'm working on. For free of course! If the products are ever sold, we can renegotiate your earning potential.

Post a follow-up or send me Email for more details. Post any questions so the answers will benefit all.

God bless you.

Not sure if it is cool to respond to your own post, but here goes!

Since I got no takers on the request for "free" help, I'd like to ask a follow-up question.

Would you help if you got paid? If so, would you prefer to be paid by the job, hour, or a mixture with a share in profits?

If you are interested and know how much you would want to be paid, go ahead and email me at Tim@GraceWorksInteractive.com. I can compile and post an aggregate response (your specifics would not be revealed. Please no "$1 million per hour" responses!

Thanks for your time.
-Tim

Wow, this is an old message - I changed the EMail address.

Yep, we are always looking for volunteers. We promise to get you in the credits if you contribute.

I finally made a page that highlights more of our immediate needs, see:
http://InteractiveParables.com/artists.htm

We appreciate your interest. I'll send you a PM too.

God bless,
Tim

Did you ever release the adventure game? Sounds like a fun game! Just a question about your page on artists needed, did you draw those photos? They are really interesting, very antique and old feeling.

He released this game quite a while ago, and has recently started shipping a translated version of it.
The game is called Interactive Parables.

And the new Spanish version is Las ParĂ¡bolas Interactivas.

Cheers!

Edit: Even though he's started shipping, I think he still wants to improve the game and expand it to other things (such as other lessons and whatnot), so I'm pretty sure he would still be very interested in more volunteer help.

Clint is correct, continuous improvement! Plus starting the next lesson set covering one of the gospels.

Some of the improvements to Parables:
Colored graphics for the wall decorations - in process
The lesson text was read and recorded, so the player will be able to read and hear the Bible Verses (when you visit the "Presentation" wall painting) - these are recorded, just need to process them, edit, etc.
The textures of the levels - in process
Plus others.

MJohnson - The adventure game isn't finished yet. The first 40% or so is playable (via download or even online although you don't get sound/graphics) at http://JarodsJourney.com . Most of the remaining part is storyboarded. We should probably finish it on the current engine (text adventure) and use that as a gauge to see if it is fun/acceptable to players, tweak that, then port to 3D world. We'll see what God blesses.

You also asked about the artist drawings. Most of those are from OLD illustrations from Bibles. Although I am asking the artists to come up with some additional illustrations (especially for those Parables that there are no illustrations for at all).

As you can see, too many irons in the fire! Add in publishing and distributing! Whew!

God bless,
Tim

Tim,

I don't know if I'm even close to the style that you want, but you could check out my music and see if you think you might want something of my styling. http://www.soundclick.com/overlooked_identity is where you can find what little I have. My natural tendency is toward synthetic symphonic work, but I make forays into rock and techno as well.

So?

I didn't realize there were time constraints.

The need is still there although the adventure game is back-burnered (but can be front burnered if the right resource is available). But other projects are front burnered. We are on the multi-year schedule!

God bless you.

I believe the time constraint is 5 years, after that you have to make a new thread

If you need any specific models give me a ring and I can probably whip something up for you.

Hey - I think I may be able to use some of these. Not sure exactly where yet. Let me listen again in a day or two and pray for guidance.

You don't mind me using them for projects? If we do, we'll definitely mention you in the credits (just let me know how you'd like that to appear).

God bless,

5 Years is a LONG fuse!

Would that only be 3D models or do you do 2D as well (and if so, simple illustrations?)?

There are several possibilities where this could be helpful - is your hotmail the one you want me to use? Mine is Tim at graceworksi DOT com.

Thank you for being willing to help!
God bless you all.

I'm pretty sure its more like, 6 months. If you still need help, just make a new thread.

One of the issues with old threads being resurrected is that it often:
1) doesn't involve the originator of the thread
2) goes way off topic, and makes it harder to find information that's needed

This thread has the original people still involved, and stays very on topic, and I believe is about the same project. From my point of view -- I don't see why discussion can't continue here. The 6-month/5-year/2-eons/whatever thing is a guideline, not an exact rule.

I can do illustrations as well as 3D. biagiov AT hotmail DOT com works for me. The only thing I ask is for specifics. Whenever I have a nebulous target, things end up taking way too long or not getting done at all.

I agree with Clint, as much as I dislike bringing back old threads I think if the author of the thread brings it back about a project, that would be reasonable.

Most of all, it's when people post on threads about some sliver of news that happened 6 years ago is when it's annoying.

Okay - I've slapped my hand three times now. If I knew about the time fuse, I've forgotten - sorry for my ignorance. You'd think a forum elder (registered for board in '01, would've been earlier but I think I had registration issues) would get more respect! Just kidding - I'll abide by the rules and will start a new thread unless the topic is still pertinent.

Cohort - thanks! Yes, I can be specific and will send you Email.

Kiwee - did you ever get my private message? Do you have a regular EMail addr?

God bless you all.

sometimes I'm overrigid, but that's mostly due to the fact that I try to avoid confusion, and going through the embarrasment that I did.

BTW, I respect you. As the Lord says, "I chastise he whom I love" or something of the sort.

Tim,

If you want to use some of those, that would be cool. I was more so just giving you a sample of some of the stuff I've done if you think you might want me to do something similar for you in the future. At the moment, I don't have other songs to post, however.

Feel free to use whatever you like. Just let me know if you mean to.

I think there's a way to leave feedback, but I don't know what it is yet. I just got that account a couple of days ago and haven't touched it since.

You're quite welcome!

I hope I didn't embarass you. My apologies if I did. I'm easy to get along with - except during the conference when I'm stressed/strung out (Clint can vouch for me there).

I wonder if Kylar even had the time fuse in the Terms that I signed up under in '01!?! Wait, it isn't in the current terms?
http://www.christiancoders.com/termsbb.shtml Are these new rules captured somewhere so I can avoid slapping my hand silly again?

Thank you for your love and prayers (but I think we should pass on the Holy Kiss part)! I beg that you pray for all the developers (Mack, Down Under Dave, Laurence/Mitchell of White Knight, Digital Praise gang, Left Behind gang, Lifeline studios Duo, Brethren brothers, Laurene's volunteers, and on and on!). Thank you for lifting us up!

Somehow, I didn't sense any such difficulty back in the day (CGDC 2005).

Anyway, just let me know if you want any of that music.

I guess there isn't really a written time fuse, but its like double-posting, and spamming. Its just stuff you don't do.

haha. I don't know -- I've never had any difficulties with Tim at the conference, stress or not. Even if there were ever any trouble, it's nothing a classic Tim Emmerich bear hug couldn't fix.

M^2, you need to make it out to the CGDC sometime -- it's fantastic. Tim (Graceworks) is the guy who heard the calling from God and got it started back in the day, and continues to be the primary coordinator for it all these years later. He puts a ton of work into the Christian game developer community, and I can't think of many (if any) people here on these boards who I respect more.

Had I been in Oregon, it might have been another story. I used to live there it seems not too long ago, but it was more like 3 years. Anyway, had I lived in Medford, I might have been going. But I'm 12, my parents aren't rich, my sisters about to go to college, so there isn't much I can do.

I'm also kinda involved in more things than Programming between Martial Arts year round, and football in the fall, I'm kinda busy.

I wish I could go, but Oregon is a bit far, it seems like it would make sense to hold it in the middle of the US, that way people could come from all around, but there is a main population on the west coast, and he does live there, and it would be hard. I'm just dreaming. I guess I'm still bummed out on my dissapointment.

Well first I'm a REALLY BIG Star Wars fan. So I realize that in OR that there was 2 big celebrations in CA, and that the BIG one is going to be in IN, so then it ends, and we move to IN, then I realize that now they're going to, LA, CA.

Now there's this, I used to live in Medford, OR. And I was getting interested in programming, but then realized my big interest in IN, so I was right there, and I didn't know about it, and now I'm across the country.

Sry, I just kinda have to get it out, we have moved lots, and its a bit frusterating that I'm not always where I want to be when I want to be.

Tim, If you still have need of art, I think I can help you perhaps a little. And I'll get in touch with you on those internship opportunities also. Please remind me if I forget.

And as to the maintaining an old thread, I prefer it when people keep a single conversation to a single location, then I can find it easier! Multiple threads just causes clutter and confusion. That's my 2 cents anyway. Take it for what it's worth. Don't spend it all in one place.

Although most tracks are to upbeat to be used in games you have good things in there too (i.e. Spirit (ambient mix), Perchance to Dream (ambient mix) and a few others). May I use one of your tracks (that could fit well with the machine theme in my game)?
