So my wife's new iMac has been a pleasure for her. She really enjoys it. But now I want to install something on it for myself since I have no other computer to use. OK, it's the Torque product I won in the contest. Getting over her concern of me wanting to be on her computer all the time another concern she has is the installation. Her Windows PC got really bogged down with installs and photos and she is worried the same thing will happen this time.

So, I know I asked something similar before, but I just want to be sure. I install TGE on the Mac. Then, at some future point I get a new computer. I can remove the program from the Mac. What's left behind? Do the Mac's install everyting in a single folder and I can just pop it over to the trash? TGE comes with source too, so I just want to be sure everything will get deleted so she won't worry about stuff and I can use the product.

Well for one, MacOS X doesn't bog down like Windows does because it's design isn't from the 80's (that's my opinion, harsh as it may be).

Macs install into the Applications, Developer, and the Library folders. By popping it into the trash, it will delete the program. You may have to look through the three folders I mentioned to un-install since I don't know where Torque can be installed. If there are any items left over search for Torque in the iSearch bar (or whatever it's called).

If Torque comes as a Mac .pkg installers un-install it this way (According to Apple):
"Deleting a package is accomplished by double-clicking on its receipt located in the /Local/Library/Receipts directory. When the Installer is done opening the receipt, the "Delete" button and the "List" button will be active. The "Delete" button removes the files installed by the package and also the package receipt itself."

Thanks for the info.

I decided to install it on the PC first. I just wanted to see how it would run. Turns out it runs pretty well. The demo they have runs a bit jittery, but I can live with it. And, so far, the computer is also capable of using the tool just fine.

I'm quite happy!

<double post>

I even double checked the thread to see if it posted. It wasn't there, so I resubmitted.
