I love fighting games. I'm making one right now. MUGEN looks pretty great for making old school fighting games--the Star Wars one looks awesome with 32 different characters! Downloading now.

UPDATE: The Star Wars fighting game is incredibly lame. The fighting mechanics are terrible: no ducking, only two attacks, super fast movement, super slow attacks. I hope this doesn't reflect negatively on MUGEN, but I guess you can make a crappy game with any tool.

Looks interesting--I love fighting games too hehe--would be nice to make a net game with although you would need to get those people's permission to distribute it.

With M.U.G.E.N. you can Mix fighters from different fighting games. ever wanted a DC vs Marvel Game or a Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat game OR a Fatal Fury/King of Fighters vs World Heroes game..well with M.U.G.E.N you can make it happen. AND That's just 3 of the 10's of thousands of Fighting Game Combinations. You can Also create Platformers,2d shoot'em up's and 2d beat'em ups. M.U.G.E.N. Rules. To Bad it feeds on your Virtual Memory like a Vampire at a Blood Bank.

I once made an All Girl Fighting Game using Fighters from various existing 2D Fighters. But It's gone now,was erased when my hardrive died. It was a cool game to the Fighters I had were:

Janne D'ark from World Heroes
Mai Shiranui from King of Fighters/Fatal Fury
Kaori Yanese From Variable Girl Fighter Geo{i think that's what the game is called}
Chun-Li Xiang from Street Fighter 3
Ibuki From Street Fighter 3
Elena from Street Fighter 3
Karin from Street Fighter Alpha 3
Sakura Kasagano From Street Fighter Alpha 3
Blue Mary From King Of Fighters
Jill Valentine from Marvel vs Capcom 2
Cammy White From Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
Shadowloo Cammy from Street Fighter Alpha 3
Tessa from Snk vs Capcom
Rose From Street Fighter Alpha 3
Aska from TMNT: Tournament Fighters.
And Finally
Juli and Juni from Street Fighter Alpha 3

It sounds like a neat game engine, and while it's very nice, it doesn't have anything to offer me in developing the kinds of games that I want to make. I'm really glad that it's a fantastic fighting engine for the kinds of games you want to make and play -- it's just not up my alley.

I'm still interested in MUGEN, it's just that I'm now more interested in seeing the kinds of things that you have created with it personally -- what kinds of characters you have developed, what examples of art you have drawn for it, what new avenues of fun with the engine, etc. So even though I'm not going to do anything with the engine, I'm still very interested in you showcasing the kinds of things you have created.

Cheers!

Have they released a MUGEN engine that's compatible with Windows XP? I still have the one from Windows 98, so I'm unable to play it anymore...

It was possibly just my operating system...either that or it was the version of MUGEN I downloaded.
