i was wondering if there was a way to enable logging into root from the graphical login? i don't want to remove sudo, i just want to be able to login as root when i'm tinkering around. i was also wondering what program would allow me to rip copy right protected cds and dvds to .iso images, or if i have to rip and then convert to .iso how i would go about that? and no, i'm not renting dvds and doing that, i just want to be able to make exact copies for backup purposes. any help or links to where i can find the info myself would be greatly appreciated. since i don't have any technical classes this semester i'm wanting to devote some time to linux. it's something different, and beig able to administer linux is a handy skill to have. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |

i can already change my password, but it doesn't allow me log in from the gui. it's mainly just a convenience thing. thanks for helping me out though. does anyone know about ripping and burning dvds & cds that are copyright protected? i'm just a beginner in linux, so i need some massive help on this. i'd also appreciate greatly a good info source on linux, with beginner guides, how-tos, that also have more advanced guides that are distro independant. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |
