Anyone know of a good site that offers free file hosting? I used to use this one a lot out of Germany but they now charge a fee to use the service. I’m looking for something that does not require a 3rd party program but where you just upload it from the firefox browser. Password requirement to get the download is fine (not required), as long it’s reliable and does not require a download manager. It’s ok if the host removes the file if it does not get any downloads in like two weeks.

It’s a video, I’m not sure how large it is yet, it’s still compiling the renderings into avi format (12 hours of rendering). I know there are a lot of sites that allow video uploads but I’m going to archive it into a rar file, so the host needs to allow rar or at least zip or better yet self extracting exe‘s for future uploads. It’ll probably be around 10MB after I edit it and may get around 50-100 downloads, it’s just a wip video so I’m not really passing around the link like I did for my early game demo video which has had about a thousand downloads and still counting and I may only offer the video download for a month or until I get further along with the wip.

I’d prefer responses to hosts that you have tested or used, there are a lot of sites that do this but many are very poor, I have gone through a lot of them from google search results. Thanks!

You can upload whatever you want on GooglePages. The limit is 100MB per site and 10MB per file (i.e you can't upload a file larger then 10 MB). You get 5 sites per account (which is 500MB) so the only real issue here is the file size limit.

Example: This is my downloads page:
http://calinnegru.googlepages.com/downloads

this is a file from my downloads page:
http://calinnegru.googlepages.com/FileWriterLibrary.dll

It's free of course

Yeah I tried google pages, for some reason it kept breaking my uploads, maybe it was a beta bug? Well this may be 10MB on the low end, it may be bigger (40 second video) and this is only a v.1 wip, the final version may be five or six minutes of high-quality CG video with sound and music. Though at that point I may put it on my own site.

Nope, jsut tried googlepages again, uploaded the file which I managed to shrink from 400MB to 9MB lol but when downloading it I only get 400k and it breaks. Oh well, thanks for the suggestion, guess I'll jsut use photobucket. But I guess I'll use googlepages to track the files anyway
Bleh... phptobucket degraded it, oh well I'll find a place for it someday. Here is a link but it's not worth comment since the quality is so low

another great one is www.savefile.com it only holds your file for 30 days, and you can only upload 60 mb at a time.

Heeeey! That's pretty slick. Thanks.
It has project folders, people can subscribe for updates and also has file tracking, not bad at all hope it works. It wont allow exe files (I use for self extractor installers) but I can do without that at this point.
