How do you stay connected, or up to date with what's going on in Technology and the sub-culture surrounding it? I follow what's going on in the Geek, FOSS, and Linux world by reading/subscribing to: Linux Journal -- A print magazine that satisfies the hacker/Linux marrige in me. LWN.net -- A weekly online news site that covers a lot of stuff happening in the Linux and FOSS world that the bigger companies (such as Reuters, for example) don't care about. Newsforge/Linux.com -- Very interesting articles on a myriad of Linux and FOSS stuff, a few howtwo's and case reviews. Slashdot -- A popular geek related news site The reason I like to stay connected is to constantly read about what's going on in the fast paced culture I'm a member of. ------------------ |

I just pick it up around. I am online in tech-related areas all the time, so its not that hard to keep up. I should subscribe to some of those and check out slashdot more often. I get daily emails from slashdot but I rarely read them anymore. :-p ------------------ |

I get daily 'happenings' from a CodeProject e-mail. I usually just read the headlines and that's about it. If anything sounds interesting, I'll click the link to read. It kind of covers a wide area of topics. Mostly coding, software, hi-tech industry, but will even go beyond that as one recently mentioned an eclipse. If I am interested in hardware-related things, I will ask on CCGR as Cheryl is quite knowledgable, I will go to a Wiki site, Tom's Hardware, or just search around. |

i usually just google whatever i'm interested in at the time, or ask a lot of question on here, and get my knowledge from all the people who are up to date. . i only look up hardware as i have to, or when something that makes a major change in computing comes out, such as pci express. i don't consider dual core all that amazing, now if they get the fsb the same as the clock speed, get around 32mb of cache, and get the clock speed to about 8ghz, then i'll be like "freaking awesome!!!" . although quad-core is pretty great. ------------------ proverbs 25:7 www.gfa.org - Gospel for Asia www.persecution.com - Voice of the Martyrs |
